then you probably already know. Volbeat Rules! This is along the lines of the first two albums, but with the addition of some gang vocals and the occasional female voice harmonizing. Also the guitar solos are featured more. Basically, all of the cool stuff plus more cool stuff. I'm about to lose my freakin' mind here! This entire album is killer. I'm not joking! Buy it at any price you can get it. It's worth it!!!

I used to consider Denmark's Volbeat the best kept secret in rock, but now that they've been mentioned in Rolling Stone and were tapped to open Metallica's latest tour, I guess the secret is out. That's a great thing, because Volbeat is a band that deserves to be heard by just about anyone that is in to hard rock and metal.

How to describe Volbeat's sound? They've used the term "Elvis Metal", and I guess that fits. If Mike Ness (of Social Distortion), Glenn Danzig and Lemmy started a band, it would probably sound something like Volbeat's blend of rockabilly, metal and punk-infused hard rock. Seriously, listening to Volbeat's latest CD Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood is like spinning Danzig II: Lucifuge and Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell simultaneously while Ace of Spades is playing in the next room. Huge guitar riffing, ridiculously catchy, rockabilly-inspired melodies and Michael Poulsen's powerful, distinctive Elvis-inspired vocals make this an incredible listening experience, and one that is all but guaranteed to have you cranking up the volume and wanting to move.

Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood is a flawless hard rock/metal album. The covers of Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonely I Could Cry" and Jimmy Work's "Makin' Believe" (based on Social Distortion's version) are obvious highlights, but every single song on this album is an unforgettable, 5-star recording. This is easily one of the top releases of 2009, and it's the kind of album that makes you wonder if the cliché about a band "saving rock & roll" might be true after all.

I usually close my reviews with a recommendation, and in this case that's easy to do. If you like hard rock, metal, or any point in between, buy this album right away.

PS - I was able to catch Volbeat live earlier this year (when they were supporting/outperforming Nightwish) and can confirm that they are just as insanely awesome live as they are on disc. If you have the opportunity to catch one of their shows, do not pass it by.

In all honesty I am here because I found these guys just this very morning. I had my first taste of Volbeat's "Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil" while overseas on patrol. Music tends to get a bit old here...fast. I could only have taken a few more 5 Finger Death Punch and Metallica songs before I had gone completely bananas, and all of a sudden...

My buddy plugs in the Ipod to some mobile speakers. "A Moment Forever" plays, as it rolls into "Soulweeper" and I'm smitten silly. I literally and quite completely forget what I was doing because like all great things, I tend to wonder where the hell I'd been all this time. He then switches albums to "Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood" and we roll back to base listening to "Light the Way", "Wild Rover of Hell" and "I'm So Lonely I could Cry"...ah man, it's was simply one of those moments where everything is happening just right.

This is the caliber of music that makes you want to punch a stranger in the face and ask them "Who are these guys?! Tell me!" I had to know more. As soon as I got back and had some time, I was all over the web checking out videos, youtube, Myspace, you name it. For being such an outstanding music experience, I was wondering why I had only heard a few songs on Sirius Radio up to this point. It's good to know that these guys guys from Denmark are now touring the states with the likes of Metallica. This is great news.

I understand we all have different music tastes, and if you're reading these commentaries for an honest opinion, I'm gonna cut the bull and just say you should buy this. I am here, ordering the last three albums, writing a very positive review on what I've experienced this day. Give it a listen. VOLBEAT WILL NOT DISSAPOINT. 5 SOLID STARS.

By "real", I mean authentic, not "real heavy", although it certainly is. Volbeat have pulled off a musical challenge that maybe only the Michale Graves-era Misfits came close to accomplishing, and that is the ultra heavy metal aggressiveness of today's hardest outfits, including support from Metallica crossed with the songwriting skills of the rock and roll greats of the fifties and sixties.
The weapon that makes this such a volatile mix is singer Michael Poulsen, who possesses one of the great voices out there today. His voice is vintage rock and roll, and gives the songs huge hooks, something most heavy outfits seem to be incapable of. It's guitars forged in the fires of Slayer and Motorhead with thrash precision zapped back in time to sock hops, cruisers, drive-ins, and the hard life of street characters. If Elvis or Gene Vincent had had these kind of guitars in their day, there's no telling how violent the reaction from the rock and roll haters of the day would have been!
But Volbeat aren't a retro act, nor are they a novelty. "Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood", like their predecessors, is a gem with fantastic songwriting and a cover of Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" that has to be heard to be believed.
Plus, there's a bit more lead guitar this time around, although still a bit sparse. That's okay, but I'd personally dig some hellacious lead work that recalled real rock and roll ala Brian Setzer. The Volbeats stand in musical no man's land, bridging the gap between metal and rock and roll, where it all began in the first place. Metal outfits would do well to study these guys and see how real vocals can add so much dimension, and how real songs, not just exercises in concussions, are written.

50s country danzig rock metal. pretty amazing combo. they take the best things from all of those genres and blend them into some ridiculously catchy and rocking songs.

This singer has an awesome voice and it's very powerful, I just heard that song Wild Rover Of Hell on XM Liquid Metal and that song is really good.

The more I listen to this band, the more I fall in love! I only have one other cd of theirs so far but will be getting them all. The entire band is fantastic, but Michael Poulsons voice is amazing and is the icing on the cake!

I find VOLBEAT to be not as good as other reviewers have stated. Yes there are moments when I find the beat and rythm enough to make blood flow...but then the next track sounds like a country ditty from the fields of O'Malley. Sorry...long albums with too many C rated tracks doesnt make for a fan.

I'd have to say this is one of my favorite Volbeat albums..there's not a single song I don't like!! I Highly recommend this album!

Wow ! A breathe of fresh air long needed in the metal community. Volbeat brings us an amazing array of musical genre all blended together into some hard driven rock. The big difference in this band is the vocals
for once in long time we have someone actually singing not yelling, not screaming, not shouting, actually singing and a great vocalist he is. This sets it apart for me. This band is fun giving you a little taste of everything but allways returning to the hard driving rifts of rock.
Its no small wonder that they are continuing to build up a reputation in the music world. Every release is a guaranted keeper. Not only are the cd's great but this band is a rush to see live. If they come around to your neck of the woods go out and see them. You wont regret it. Volbeat may not be the anwser to everyone especially the far right hard metal fans or speed metal heads but if you give them a try they could be. Thanks Volbeat for being so rocking and especially bringing the fun back into it. I love driving to Volbeat I just have to keep an eye on the speedometer when I do.
