Hours of fun!!,

This review is from: Guitar Hero 2 (Video Game)
I bought Guitar Hero 2 originally for Playstation 2 when it first came out and then it out later for Xbox 360 so I bought this game also because it had better graphics and some extra songs. This game is really fun I can play it for hours and not get bored of it.I play it on medium because I find it difficult to press the orange button on hard mode. This game has a lot of great songs, but not all of the songs are good, some of the cover songs are not done very well like "Killing In The Name","Them Bones",and "Institutionalized". Besides the covered songs the rest of the game is fun and I think this game has better songs than Guitar Hero 3. This game has a unlockable songs, costumes, and guitars. My guitar that came with X-plorer guitar which is my favorite guitar,I own the Les Paul guitar and its not as comfortable.I do think that these games should have more newer bands like Chevelle,Three Days Grace,Breaking Benjamin, and Bullet For My Valentine.
My favorite songs are "Freebird","Crazy On You","Them Bones"and "Laid To Rest". Pros: 70 songs, unlockable costumes, comfortable guitar, hours of fun, difficult on hard and expert modes, improved graphics Cons: should of got newer bands, covered songs

Still best in the series, despite lack of master tracks,

I owned and played the heck out of the original Guitar Hero, and managed to get everyone I knew into it. Yet for some reason I skipped GH2 when it first came out, and didn't return to the series until GH3. I was very disappointed in GH3, but when I saw GH2 on sale for the new 360 I bought it - and fell in love with the series again.
As a sequel GH2 picks up and improves upon almost every aspect of the original. Co-op mode was a great idea, and there's a better mix of genre/decade songs than the original. The game offers a few genuinely challenging songs and is for the most part more difficult than the original. However for those, like me, who played GH3 first and wanted to try something else in the series GH2 is a lot easier. That's not a bad thing - at times it felt like GH3 was artificially adding button combinations or notes in order to ramp up the difficulty. To put it shortly, GH2 is an improvement in gameplay (as much as rhythm based games can be different) from both its predecessor and its first successor. However, since we're comparing the game to its sequel, the most painfully obvious difference is the lack of master tracks. The covers aren't terrible but the fact that there aren't more original recordings is pretty disappointing. For some this won't make the least bit of difference, for others it can be jarring. It all boils down to how you feel about covers in general. Another potential fault is the DLC area. The tracks you can download are a bit pricey, but if you're willing to pay they definitely help prolong the experience. GH2 is still my favorite of the original three GH games. It has a great mix of music, it just "feels" a lot smoother than its sequel, and the new multiplayer mode definitely adds a lot more to the series. If you enjoyed GH3 and are looking for more, if you love the guitar experience on full band games, or if you want to get into the genre with no background experience I highly recommend you check out GH2. Plus, who can argue with a game that has a SPINAL TAP song on it?

Love the game but...,

Don't get me wrong I love all the songs on this game I'm just not used to hearing these bad covers. I Mean the guys who did Woman, Free Bird, Laid to Rest and Last Child completely sucked while the covers of Heart Shaped Box, Madhouse, and Jessica were amazing. but that's me stating my opinion. And plus the graphics of this game are not that great compared to GH 3, Aerosmith, or Metallica. But this game is good on the sense you get to try something new that you absoloutely loved to hear while growing up listening to your parents Records or 8 Tracks. But sometimes you will be like me and get irrated when somebodys cover just ruins it for ya.

Fun, but track list a little disappointing,

While all of the Guitar Hero games are a blast to play, I didn't enjoy this one as much as I could have because the majority of the songs I'd never heard of before, not to mention the bands who I'd also never heard of. Most of the songs aren't even master recordings, which was also disappointing. The saving grace of this particular one is that you can play Freebird as a bonus track (when the audience asks for an encore). That alone is worth it! Check out the track list before buying it if playing songs you actually know is a concern. You'll have fun regardless.

If you're wanting to play more songs on your plastic guitar then GH2 has a good mix of songs. Most of the songs are covers and not played by the original band. Guitar Hero and Rockband have come a long way since it's humble beginnings so don't expect the polish from newer releases. If you're looking for more music you're really better off picking up Rockband 3 and downloading some DLC.

This was the first Guitar Hero game I ever played and it still is my favorite. The song list is awesome! The difficulties are very consistent throughout the game which I can't say about all of GH games. Definitely a must for anyone who still plays GH.

I had this game on my PlayStation 2 forever, and since I switched over to Xbox 360 I had to buy it. The seller I bought it from had it in perfect conditions with no defects. Definetly would buy again from this seller!

These games were pretty awesome at first, but for me these music games are boring now. This is a great game though, had lots of fun but only for a while, after you play it for a while you will find doing the exact same thing over and over again. But still fun nonetheless, worth buying.

This game is so much fun. The songs on it are great and there is plenty to keep you occupied. It has a great mix of music, it just "feels" a lot smoother than its sequel, and the new multiplayer mode definitely adds a lot more to the series. Highly, highly recommended.
