Aerosmith flavored Guitar Hero that doesn't offer too much,

Since Activision and Neversoft took control of the Guitar Hero franchise, we've been getting a steady stream of sequels and spin-off's, with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith being the latest game in the series. Featuring a pretty good collection of songs spanning Aerosmith's long career, you'll find that besides adding the Aerosmith-themed presentation, the game itself is basically identical to Guitar Hero III. This isn't really a bad thing, but considering this is a full-priced game, it would have been nice if there would have been a little more overall variations. The track list here is quite good though, with even some bonus tracks from Joe Perry's Joe Perry Project to find and play too, along with some bonus interviews with the band. Getting through the game isn't that much of a challenge though if you're a Guitar Hero veteran, as the game proves to be not all that difficult compared to previous Guitar Hero games. It should also go without saying that if you aren't a fan of Aerosmith, this probably isn't for you. All in all, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is an enjoyable diversion that fans of the band will get a lot of enjoyment out of for a while, but in the end, the game doesn't offer enough bang for your buck.

She Sells Sanctuary-The Cult
King of Rock -Run DMC Bright Light Fright Nobody's Fault Walk this way W/DMC Cat Scratch Fever-Nugent Sex Type Thing-STP Mama Kin Toys in the Attic Train Kept' Rollin' Kings and Queens Rats in the Cellar Pink Pandora's Box these songs as well as some JOE PERRY tunes are also in GH Aerosmith. A band that it turns out makes a prime candidate to center a GH game around. The track list is overall put together with a good eye to keeping the game feeling fresh. The mechanics of the gameplay feel smooth and like GHIII tougher on harder settings. Certain songs like No Surprize, Nobody's Fault and Mama Kin sound great with the soundfx that accompany the song when you are nailing it(think the chorus singing in Rock Band). Basically a classic GH game with a pretty outstanding opening band list and selection of music. The Cult, The Clash, The Black Crowes, (BTW the covers by wavergroup etc sound good as usual.) With the onset of more complicated Guitar Hero games on the horizon this one might stand the test of time alongside the other PS2 guitar hero games better than we might expect. Better song choice than GH 80s and way more unlockables.

I bought this game at Christmas for my daughter,She loves playing Guitar Hero, and I love to play it with her sometimes. We were both dissapointed that you have to play each song to unlock it.She is very good and plays on expert, but got tired of it fast and the songs wern't very good. There needs to be more information about the items you buy posted about it, The reviews are nice to have but more information about the item you want to purchase needs to be listed along with it.

This was during a time when GH was my favorite music based game (now ddr is), but after the 3rd game it got kind of dull. I was excited when GH Aerosmith came out, but after playing the entire game i was left disappointed. First off alot of good songs were left out. Dude Looks like a Lady, Janies Got a gun, Last child, and more. I was happy they included Run DMC. If you ask me the Run DMC version of Walk This is far better than the original song. Its a perfect blend of Rap and Rock and Roll (Chocolate plus Peanut Butter=delicious). I also like the addition of King of Rock into the game. What disappointed me even more was the artist the game had besides Aerosmith and Run DMC. I mean I'm not a huge Rock and Roll fan (I like music in general), but I can think of tons of artist/songs they could have put in this game besides the ones we're stuck with. The other huge disappointment is the bonus song list. In GH 1 and 2 I always loved buying and playing the cool bonus songs I never heard of. Given that the songs mentioned ealier aren't in the career mode, I figured "Hmmm. Maybe their a treat in the bonus sings menu. I can't wait"^_^ Then all hopes were dashed when I found them no where in the game. I give it 3 stars though because even though I was disappointed at the song list and content, I still enjoyed being introduced to songs I never heard of and playing Run DMC and a few Aerosmith songs. You can actually blame Walk this way (heard it before GH) and GH 2 (Last child) for why Aerosmith is one of my favorite Rock stars now and his songs are on my MP3 player. Still with this game I expected so much better.

I thought this game was very good. The song selection is very good, but the graphics were a little blurry and bad. But the only thing that matters is the game, right?

Being the mega-huge Aerosmith fan that I am, I couldn't wait for this product to come out. I checked the wikipedia page for this constantly until the "set list" detailing what songs would be on the game came out, and pestered friends and family so they knew it was what I wanted for Christmas, it was all I could talk about for weeks...
... and I wasn't left disappointed. Okay, I was left maybe a little disappointed. The game is pretty much exactly the same as it's previous Guitar Hero predecessor, which does not really bother me so much, as I am not much of a graphics freak type person. But there was, in my humble opinion, WAY too much non-Aerosmith music for an Aerosmith-based guitar game! The non-Aerosmith choices were, for the most part, fairly solid, but still. Some of my favorites were left out. And this made me sad. That being said, pretty much everything Aerosmith has ever done (minus most of the Just Push Play album) is a favorite of mine, so, what are you gonna do. If you're just looking for another Guitar Hero game, it's no better than the ones you have. But if you at all appreciate Aerosmith... worth it! LOVE THEM!!

My review is for the PS2 version--
Pros: Lots of Aerosmith hits Game is not too difficult to beat on easy mode Snippets of the band members telling stories within the game Great Aerosmith facts in between songs Decent rendering of the band members as animated characters Cool graphics of their gigs Cons: Game is pretty easy to beat on the easy mode (pro for some, might be a con for others) Some favorite hits were missing Slow load - but that's the joy of PS2 No way to skip the band stories to go straight to the gig/song I really had few complaints about this game. I loved it! It was my first introduction to guitar hero, and it was a fun way to start out. I've since played other GH titles, and find this game to be pretty comparable to the other titles. This game is pretty easy to complete while on easy mode, which for me was nice. It gave me a chance to unlock all my favorite songs without too much frustration. I then went back through and began working my way through on medium mode. In easy mode it even eventually let me skip the battle against Joe Perry, which was good since otherwise I think I'd still be trying! The only issue I really had was that you couldn't skip the little interview bits with the band that came in between some gigs/songs while in career mode. I really enjoyed hearing them all the first few times around, but after awhile, I had heard them all and just wanted to get to playing. There were also a few hits that weren't on the game that I would have liked to seen, but most of the really big ones are on here. There's also a lot of really great songs by other artists that are influences of or influenced by Aerosmith in some way. Playing the game actually got me extra hyped to want to see Aerosmith in concert when they come to my city on tour with ZZ Top. Seeing all the backdrops and things in the game that are based off actual concerts made me want to see them live. It would be cool to be able to play this as a band version now, but short of releasing an Aerosmith 2, but I don't know how that would happen, since it would have to be a rehash of all the same songs for the most part. I know some of the songs will be on the GH Smash Hits game, which allows usage of other instruments and the mic. But I'd love to be able to play all these songs with an entire band. Conclusion: Great game for anyone who is a big Aerosmith fan, but plenty to love for those who maybe only enjoy some of their hits. Easy to play for a novice, as well as increased difficulty for those who are a little more seasoned players.
