3.0 out of 5 stars Game good but a little glitchy.... September 15, 2009
Platform for Display:PlayStation2|Edition:Game only
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Let me start by saying im a huge guitar hero fan so im going somewhat easy on this review... The songs are good but What bothers me the most is the load time. takes forever to load between songs. The graphics are horrible and i have only had this for a week and it has froze up on me 3 times!!!!! Very glitchy... Only get it if your a huge fan of guitar hero and have no other systems to play it on ..i would recommend the 360 or ps3 not the ps2, like i said only if you have no other systems.. Although the van halen offer is cool but i have not yet to see my copy and there seems to be alot of stuff to go through to actually get a free copy....

4.0 out of 5 stars Love the songs, don't love the load time December 1, 2009
Platform for Display:PlayStation2|Edition:Game only
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Huge guitar hero fan here, so this maaay be biased.

Yes, the load time between songs does take a while. That's the only thing that bugs me, but I've figured out my own little way of not caring about that anymore. I distract myself by checking little things on the internet, or play another game on my computer while waiting for GH to load. It doesn't take forever though, maybe 2 minutes max load time between songs.

What I do love though are the song choices this time. There are some songs that I really love to play again and again. This time they seem to have picked songs that are way more fun to sing as well. I know a lot more songs for a change and actually like most of them :) I've never popped in a brand new guitar hero and knew right away which songs I wanted to play.

Favorites:
Sublime - "What I Got" (honestly couldn't wait for them to use this song. Love playing/singing it)
Stevie Wonder - "Superstition"
Rolling Stones - "Sympathy for the Devil"
Garbage - "Only Happy When It Rains"
3 Doors Down - "Kryptonite"
A Perfect Circle - "Judith"
Billy Squier - "Lonely is the Night"
Blur - "Song 2"
Bob Dylan - "All Along the Watchtower"
Bon Jovi - "You Give Love A Bad Name"
David Bowie - "Fame"
Deep Purple - "Woman From Tokyo ('99 Remix)"
Duran Duran - "Hungry Like The Wolf"
Gorillaz - "Feel Good Inc."
John Mellencamp - "Hurts So Good"
Johnny Cash - "Ring of Fire"
Queen & David Bowie - "Under Pressure"
The Police - "So Lonely"
The White Stripes - "Blue Orchid"

So overall, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the newest Guitar Hero :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but skips. November 28, 2010
By Nick

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
All in all its a pretty fun game...just like most of the other GH games. A bit more challenging than GH3 and pretty much on par with World Tour. Only a halfway decent list of songs. There are alot of songs on this one but not all of them are great and a few are even downright horrible and just a chore to play. My biggest problem is that this game will randomly start skipping in the middle of play. This happens at least 3 out of 5 times I play it. I have a brand new ps2 that is only about a month old so I know it is not my hardware.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better graphics, but not better music. GH5 October 13, 2009
Platform for Display:PlayStation2| Edition:Game only|Verified Purchase
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Great game, but takes along time to load and in my opinion, which shouldn't apply to everyone, it does not have the greatest song selection. Overall it is still recommendable, because it works with the drum kit and microphone and multiple guitars. Which makes for great parties! Go get it today.

The game was a lot of fun for two months, great songs...but then it just stopped working, we tryed all our Play Station games and they all worked fine, cleaned the disc, etc...so it wasn't the console. I was really upset.

5.0 out of 5 stars i own on ps3, just as good March 8, 2010
By S. Hill

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
i am in iraq and really wanted to play some guitar hero games, but not wanting to bring my ps3 over here, i had my wife send me a ps2 and just bit the bullet and bought some of the games that i already had again for ps2. i was a little cautious about this one because of some of the reviews already posted for ps2, but i feel like the people writing those reviews had unrealistic expectations for the game. You should know before you buy this that there are no challenges, no way to include songs from older games or buy new songs on the playstation store, and do not count on party play at all, because it basically doesn't exist. all of that aside, you still get all of the songs from the ps3 version, which i think is 85. the graphics are still awesome for ps2 and all of the character movements and looks have been improved. one thing that you may or may not like is that if you've seen the way the notes and the highway look on ps3, they are not like that one this one, they look more the way guitar hero 3 or world tour was. also, people had complained about loading times, but i don't notice much difference between this and the ps3 version. overall, still an awesome game and as long as you can sacrifice a few features that are not necessary to enjoy the game, you should like it.
