4.0 out of 5 stars Great accessory for Guitar Hero
I originally purchased my drums as part of the band kit; however, this is the same product. The drum kit requires a Wiimote, so you'll still need a Wiimote for each guitar and the drums. The drum kit features 3 drum pads and 2 elevated cymbal pads. As they appear across the note highway from left to right: left drum, left cymbal, middle drum, right cymbal, right drum...

1.0 out of 5 stars Two new guitar hero drum sets in 6 months
I've purchased through Amazon sellers two stand alone guitar hero drum sets (Wii) in the past 6 months. On the first one, the red drum blew out after about 2 weeks use. On the second one, the green drum blew out within two months. I don't hit them very hard, so it's not a result of abuse; plus, I am only at the easy level, so you don't even hit them much. For the...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great accessory for Guitar Hero, May 21, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Guitar Hero World Tour - Stand Alone Drums (Accessory)
I originally purchased my drums as part of the band kit; however, this is the same product. The drum kit requires a Wiimote, so you'll still need a Wiimote for each guitar and the drums. The drum kit features 3 drum pads and 2 elevated cymbal pads. As they appear across the note highway from left to right: left drum, left cymbal, middle drum, right cymbal, right drum. This "up-down" mechanic makes learning the Guitar Hero drums a little more challenging than the Rock Band drums (as does the 5th pad). With some practice, this becomes a non-issue.

The drum pads are designed to absorb noise, but you still need to turn up the volume a couple notches versus playing with just guitars or microphone. The foot pedal is designed to not move around while playing, but I've found this to still be an issue when playing on the oriental rug in my living room.

The drum pads are responsive and velocity sensitive, so it feels like you're really playing the drums (well, at least more than the Rock Band version). All things considered, the drums are a great addition to the Guitar Hero ensemble.

For the price I paid for each of the drum sets, I'm outraged at how cheaply made they are.

I've used both and the Guitar Hero drum set blows away the Rock Band set. Don't get me wrong, both are fun but Guitar Hero is excellent!

I've heard and research reviews before I purchased this product. A lot of people were saying it was not accurate in comparison to Rockband. I can honestly tell you that this is a fallacy. Guitar Hero drum set is very accurate, easy to use and fun.

So feel free to purchase this product. Music selection on Guitar Hero is better than Rockband.

Thanks

Though my co-workers laugh at me because I'm a 60 year old woman playing the Guitar Hero drums - I'm having a blast. It is so much fun.

I have purchased the Drum Only Kit Released Feb. 2009.

Drum kit functions properly without any sensitivity or quality control issues that were reported with the drums in the Complete Band Set last year.

I would have given a full 5 stars if it wasn't for the sound level of striking the drums. Volume on the tv needs to be kept pretty high to drown it out.

If drumming is really your thing I might be tempted to wait for an aftermarket set such as those already out for Rock Band made by Ion.

Just got this set for Christmas - I've used it fewer than 10 times, and the red pad is already not registering hits - I'm beyond frustrated!!!

Guess I'll be returning it and hoping for better luck the next time around. Besides that one (fairly major) complaint, I really like this set - am looking forward to using it!

Got this for my daughters. They both love the drums, since they are much more interactive than playing the guitar. Even on "easy" you have to use the all the drum pads and cymbals. Assembly was easy and quality is very good for 99 bux. My 10 year old now wants to play percussion in the band when it starts next school year - I think the GH drums will keep her interest over the summer and make a good transition to a real instrument. Her interest in band was low before, so I am super happy with the purchase for this reason too.
Definite Recommend as an add on to GH for WII!
