5.0 out of 5 stars Dan delivers a great piece of work!
Quickly becoming one of my favorite CD's. The first 5 tracks are what we have always expected from Dan Peek. The shift away from Gospel\Christian was someone surprising given his transformation to this genre as a solo artist to this date,(though this was evident in his America tunes as well). All any America\Dan Peek fan can hope for is that Dan keeps it coming!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not very satifactory!
I like most of the songs by Dan Peek when he was in America because they had a folk-rock style. In this album, I cannot find any song that can be compared with his America songs or even his earlier solo work. The songs in this album are less melodic. When Dan tried to rock in this album, I felt that the ultimate outcome is less satisfactory.

5.0 out of 5 stars His BEST solo release!, May 26, 2004
This review is from: Guitar Man (Audio CD)
This may be Dan's best work as a solo artist. The music has a harder edge to it than most of his other albums. It is more like his work on the second Peace CD (which I really liked) than anything else. It has the energy level of a live performance. The only drawback is the packaging isn't as polished as his other releases - but it's the music that counts and the quality of the music is GREAT! Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dan Peek Knows how to ROCK and WRITE songs., June 19, 2010
This review is from: Guitar Man (Audio CD)
This isn't really a review of "Guitar Man" as much as it is a THUMBS UP recommendation. I own three other Dan Peek cds: Bodden Town, A Carribean Christmas and Driftin. Dan had a small number of copies of "Guitar Man" available

recently on his website so I decided to buy a copy. I don't know what it is about Dan's music but he seems to have an understated power and brillance that does not seem apparrent right off. All I can say is that Dan knows how to write and perform rock songs. He isn't the greatest singer but that is where he might fool you. At first one thinks, "oh, well he isn't a great singer" and then you suddenly realize the skillfully written songs and the killer guitar licks. Then one realizes that it isn't one cool song, but two, then three and then before you know it Dan has sucked you right into his project, his album. This cd is available as a download on Dan's website and he may or may not have cd copies of this album available. And be sure to check out the song "Borrowed Time". It seems to be a song about how Dan feels the time we live in is much like the "last times" as foretold in the Christian Bible. That song is very cool as is the song before it. I am only in the preliminary stages of enjoying this cd but I can say that the cd has already proven to me that I should be enjoying it for some time. And just so folks know I am not a total "thumbs up" fanatic, I can say that Dan's "Driftin'" cd is a hard sell for this fan. It seems that cd is a collection of folksy songs. That cd is not a cd that has ever grown on me. I can say that I only WISH I liked that cd a WHOLE LOT more than I do. I mean, I paid good money for that cd, actually I got a good deal on that cd in a three pack of cds, and I hope someday to enjoy that cd. I recommend all of the other cds though. I have played Bodden Town and The Christmas cd to death. Thanks for the music Dan.

Guitar Man is a LIVE cut, not sure where it was performed.

Carry On, is pretty song.

Jessica is very catchy.

Dead Men is an awesome rocker.

Borrowed Time is a great rocker.

Nashville Cats is about musical people in Nashville.

Oh, and IF ONLY Dan would include LYRICS for his songs. Bummer.

1. Guitar Man

2. Carry On. Only Love Can Save You (D. Peek) Listen

3. The Hill

4. Jessica

5. Sharkey's Song

6. Still Luv You

7. Makin' Tracks
