5.0 out of 5 stars Govi, At His Best
We have all of Govi's CDs and to say one is better than another is a rather useless act of futility.

"Guitar Odyssey" is another of Govi's excellent works.

There is a mixture of joy and easy grace that makes this CD a real pleasure to listen to.

As usual with Govi, his technique is excellent and the engineering is outstanding...

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent technique
I enjoyed the CD; he certainly brings some excellent technique forward on the PRS, as well as the classical. I must challenge some of the other reviews, however, in that this is no "standard" by which to gauge the work of other artists. The compositions are quite enjoyable at times, at other times they're not as rich nor memorable. Overall it's a good...

5.0 out of 5 stars Govi, At His Best, September 20, 2004

I think that "Turquoise Gallon" is a wonderful piece of music.

"Dolphine Escort" is a very relaxed and pleasant piece of music that brings to mind beautiful beaches and blue-green water.

"Treasure Bay" is nothing but pure joy.

We have had this CD for almost two years and still enjoy it as much now, as the first time we listened to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD to benchmark all others, March 25, 2001

This is not a CD of one or two great tunes; it is an entire album. I echo the other reviewers in that each song has it's unique aura so that you don't listen to the same techniques and orchestrations on each track. This album serves as my benchmark to compare all other guitar artists' works.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of The Best..., January 21, 2000

This release is the best I have found to relax and rejuvinate! As a video editor, I often use clips from this disc as background tracks for my underwater videos. The spirit of the islands and scuba diving is alive in Guitar Odyssey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sensual - Exciting - and very Fulfilling, February 19, 1999
This review is from: Guitar Odyssey (Audio CD)
After a long stressful day at work and combating the wilds of the freeways, I come home and insert this in the CD player, dim the lights and just relax. (Guitar Oddesy will soothe the savage beast within and more). Govi's CD is a combination of a romantic instrumental opera, some of it is fire & passion, then again some of it is from a place you knew long ago. All of it leaves me yearning for more...

I discovered Govi's "Guitar Odyssey" by accident and love the varied guitars, drums, and Andean flutes used. Every song is different and has great beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Electrifying and timbre-rich GOVImagic. Just splendid!, March 21, 2002

I actually purchased Guitar Odyssey ("GO") [incidently - the first two letters of GOvi's name!] some six months ago. I admit that I've not done enough 'serious listening' to GO. Why? ... because my listening time has been devoted to GOVI's three other albums in my inventory, i.e. "Seventh Heaven", "Andalusian Nights" and "Passion & Grace" !

Now, after some serious listening, I'll say that GO is worth every sen ('cents' as in 'dollars & cents') and it aptly reflects it's album title of 'Guitar Odyssey'.

The moods and ambiance created by GO is beyond words. It carasses your mind into a state of total relaxation with the superbly struck chords and rhythm. The fantastic timing, very well composed verses and beautiful guitar timbres are the things that make GO so special. GOVI's music is the Gift of life on Earth.

GO is one SPLENDID musical investment! 5-stars! Most recommended.

(I've already placed an order with amazon for GOVI's latest offering - in the name of "MOSAICO". Can't wait to enjoy his Yr2002 contributions to the world of TRUE music.) My hat is off to GOVI. Go, Govi .. .GO !

5.0 out of 5 stars There is none other, May 17, 2003

The question of "who's best?" is a subjective one. My opinion after listening to all of the New Flamenco (New Age) guitarists is: They are all great and have their own distinctive styles, but Govi is king.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and tranquil blue serenity, August 14, 2008
This review is from: Guitar Odyssey (Audio CD)
The smooth and luxurious sounds of Govi always leave me feeling tranquil and mellowed out. This is my favorite album from the guitar maven and it sounds like turquoise waters and bright corals bathed by glorious golden sun rays. This would be a perfect soundtrack to some sailing adventure in warm, tropical weather; the mystical, silky pan pipes and guitar take me far away.

Govi was born in Germany but his many years spent living in India has greatly influenced his craft and his move to Hawaii has added en extra layer to the beautiful depth of his creative genius. The music is a fusion of many cultures and overall happiness and joy for life that he carries. I always feel that my mood improves when I listen to the sweet rhythms and this album will make anyone feel like they are on vacation. The sounds create an overall feeling of bathing in warm water with a soft tropical breeze lifting life's worries away.

All the pieces have a similar feeling to them and I actually don't have favorites because I love them all but if I had to pick then Sail of Joy, Turquoise Galleon and Lover's Moon are my top favorites. I discovered Govi while listening to Cusco when I saw that he was listed as similar artist in the world music section. Anyone who likes New Age and World sounds will be delighted with this artist.

I'm a PhD student and write alot. I like to go to coffee shops and put on my headphones to get serious writing done. Sometimes, I need to be in the grad lounge at school attempting to get work done. Good headphones and the right music are important. I like music with a good tempo and a mix that fills the space of audible sounds.

Govi is a staple on my iTunes shuffle. It's a wonderful acoustic counterpart to other faves like Steve Stevens. Great guitar work with nice flute and other instruments to fill in between the notes.

I like Govi's "Mosaico" a little better, so if you have to choose just one, skip this one and buy "Mosaico". Come back here when you want more.

Must have for Govi fans, his best to date in my opinion. For anyone not familiar w/ Govi, but loves guitar, give this CD a listen, you won't regret it. Everyone I've played it for flipped out and wanted to know who it was so they could get it. Great music to get you up and moving and soothing to relax to. One of my personal top 10 favorite CD's of all times!
