5.0 out of 5 stars a textbook of contemporary jazz, rock, & classical
Larry Coryell is a guitar legend. History proves this. While Larry is not a commercial success per se, his ideas and thoughts have withstood the test of time, easily surpassing more commerically successful endeavors by others. This is a serious book, no tab, although Larry's regular column in Guitar Player magazine had many of these pieces tabbed, it was published...

1.0 out of 5 stars ZERO STARS From A Jazz Guitar Student at Berklee
I purchased two of Larry's books based on the single comments that were on line at the time. I wish I hadn't. I think his agent or publisher writes these glowing comments. A "serious" book? Give me a break. What is meant is "incomprehensible" unless you are already at Larry's level. Get his books, CD's recordings, etc.Doesn't that give you a clue...

This is a serious book, no tab, although Larry's regular column in Guitar Player magazine had many of these pieces tabbed, it was published before most modern guitar manuals contained tab. Get this book and get the orginal recordings. Larry also has some new Cds and books out. Do the deal!! A splendid time is guaranteed!!

If you are an already accomplished jazz guitarist and want to learn how not to write a book on teaching jazz guitar than use his books as examples. I have four of Larry's CD's. I love his chops but he really doesn't teach well. Some people are born teachers, Larry is a born player. As I said before, look at this book in a music store before buying it online to save a few bucks.
