Songs without a singer,
This review is from: Guitarland (Audio CD)
If you have found this review then you are probably aware of Tim's incredible session resume. Sadly this is his only solo work and if this is any indication as to what he is capable of , the masses are being deprived of a very talented songwriter. The instrumental songs on this disc appeal on so many levels, you appreciate the catchiness of the songs, the melodies that stick in your head and, underneath it all restrained in the mix is some of the finest guitar playing to be heard anywhere. For those looking for an ego driven shredfest I suggest you keep on looking, the playing here never leaves the structure of the song and always compliments the melody perfectly. Two standout tracks for me are "Western Song" which features some fantastic country picking and "Long Road Home" that has an amazing Eric Johnson type solo and finishes off with some Univibe driven arpeggios, perfection.
Coming after Tim's work with Toy Matinee (a CD which if you dont own belongs in your shopping cart right now) it features many of the same musicians including the late great Kevin Gilbert. If you like this disc, check out Sahara Snow, I think that it's very similar but with vocals.

Phenomenal Guitar Music,

This review is from: Guitarland (Audio CD)
I bought this CD back in the 90's when it was fairly new through a specialty CD seller (west coast/AOR). It is the first CD of material I put on a mix CD and it blows away everyone who listens to it. Think Satriani or Jeff Beck but on a more melodic note. Pierce plays for everyone from Clapton to Cetera to Madonna, probably the most in-demand session player in LA. Check out his credits on All Music and you will be blown away. He doesn't read charts but has the ear, hands and imagination of....NOBODY ELSE IN THE WORLD! On his website he talks about how his goal on sessions is to blend perfectly with the song, not stand out. He comes up with the greatest guitar orchestrations for everyone. If you can find this CD, buy it!

Tim, when your next solo album...??? Why we have to wait so long for another??? "Guitarland" is a really great guitar album. I still have it in my mind, I know and remember every piece of Your solos.. A copy of CD is always in my car...I love Your guitar style...Man, You're one of the best in space. Now "Guitarland" is playing in the south of Poland...
This CD is fantastic, not only as a lesson for guitar players.
If Tim only could to read it ;) ...Greatz

Having Played session guitar for Meatloaf, Rick Springfield, Robin Beck, Johnny Van Zant, Mark Spiro, Michael Sweet, Gregg Rolie, Ozzy, Eric Martin & John Waite Tim gave us this precious gem of a CD. This CD ranks up with greats like Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani & Eric Johnson. Every song is well layed out and he has a way of arranging his guitar parts perfectly. Don't miss out on this cd if you love guitar, it is essential.
