This review is from: The Gulag Archipelago: 1918-1956, An Experiment in Literary Investigation III - IV (Hardcover)
This volume like the one before it is no easy read, as far as reading material. Content is masterly depressing, told with a dry sense of humour.Expands on the themes layed out in Volume 1. Emphasis on inner camp workings... as opposed to beginning process of arrests as detailed in Volume 1. Leads into final Volume, book 3, hopefully containing chapters that should address the issue of camp release and surrender to freedom. Book recieved is in generally good condition; no obvious markings...spine breaking away from base, with dust jacket well-worn; condition passable. Good investment. |
