From the supplier: 'Courage Under Fire,' directed by Edward Zwick, puts the human face on the Gulf War by presenting its messy side, specifically, the case of the friendly fire. Zwick explains that the movie presented women in war as a fact that had to be dealt with just as with issues on accountability and truth. Although 'Courage Under Fire' focused on sexism as the source of dramatic conflict, it did not take it up as a political issue. Neither did it cast the military in a heroic mode. What Zwick was interested in was to present the ambivalence that characterizes post-modern situations.
