Review

Gullah Voices is the most in-depth exploration of the Gullah Culture ever documented. The audio documentary, brings to life, this treasured African American culture as you witness the passion of Gullah people as they pray and reveal secrets of the culture, that only those who were born into the culture could share. The book offers a distinct understanding of the development of the language and the culture, unlike any other ever has. It is a most valuable resource for schools and popular reading. Learn how the drum still tells the story in the Gullah culture, why graves are decorated, and how roots are brewed to cure. Most compelling is the life story of Master Blacksmith, Phillip Simmons, told in his own voice. Learn the truth about what really happened to slaves after the ships arrived in Charleston! Gullah Voices is a epic tale of historical signifigance! -- Publisher
