5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy fun romp, September 29, 2002
This review is from: Gullivera (Paperback)
Nice sexy, fun, romp that hit the exact spot I hoped for: pretty modern girl with a few days to school to enjoy goes on a ride on an spooky old ship, goes through Gulliver's travels quick and sexy. She's naked a lot; other times she's got pretty duds on. her old English flag shorty-shirt outfit is yummy. Not for prudes who "...like naked women but this was just too much.." and not for fetish freaks and porn dogs; she doesn't have sex and the juices don't flow. (Well, actually fluids flow, in a case of fire fighting...) Fun and sexy naked girl but not too wild or dark. Erotica notica.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting twist on Swift's story, though somewhat lacking, March 28, 2005
This review is from: Gullivera (Paperback)
Full-color adult graphic novel.

Manara's take on the Swift story of Gulliver's Travels, this time with a woman who has trouble staying clothed. The story starts with a young woman, whose name is Gullivera, doing some nude sunbathing on a raft on the ocean. She falls asleep on the raft, falls off, losing both the raft and her bathing suit. She swims out to an old looking ship that has been anchored nearby for a week without any activity. The girl finds an old British flag, makes a dress out of it, and finds a copy of Gulliver's Travels on the ship. As she begins to read it, a storm comes up and knocks the ship off its anchor, and off they go, ship and girl.

Gullivera ends up lying on a beach, tied down. She has entered the land of the Lilliputians. Gullivera helps the Lilliputians in a war, puts out a fire with a different type of liquid source, and eventually leaves and finds her ship, undamaged. The ship takes her to a land of giants, including vicious giant rats, and giant humans, a brother and sister who find and capture her. Next, Gullivera very briefly visits the land of horny talking horses (the horses might have been in one panel).

After fleeing the horses, Gullivera finds a floating city in the sky, filled with horny women, and sleeping men. The men can't be roused except by loud noises, and . .. Fleeing the "pervs," Gullivera returns home.

Oddly enough, the Swift story, on occasion, had more erotic scenes (and more disturbing).

Includes nudity, and whipping. A rather light little book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful female body, teasing theme, July 18, 2002

Manara loves displaying the female body and tease the reader with different ideas. The situations are soft, not hard core at all. I personally love the way he draws the face and smiles. Gullivera is happy, light and enjoyable watching/reading. Without giving away much from the story, can you imagine marching under two spread legs with all the female sex wide open...?

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent interpretation of Gullivers Travels, erotic style., February 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Gullivera (Paperback)
This is a wonderful erotic twist on Gullivers Travels, Manara style. Manara draws with such a wonderful clarity and sensual style, I would reccommend this to anyone who enjoys animated art at its best, with a female twist to the main character. Manara is an incredible artist! The eroticism is this book is very diverse, and some unexpected turns, which is very nice. You just never know what Manara will pull out...of his sleeve. His other works are also well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Parody, April 1, 2002

"kissarmy_3000" (Bronx, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gullivera (Paperback)
If you ever read the classic "Gullivers Travels" by Jonathan Swift, this exotic comic version by Milo Manara is sure to make you laugh. The story here focuses on a beautifull female who like Gulliver, goes into "other worlds" so to speak, and meets lilliputs, then giants, and other creations that Manara includes himself. The story is funny and Manara finds plenty of reason for the Girl to take off her clothes. However if your looking for a very explicit sex story, then look somewhere else...this story is very nicely drawn, not sickly perverted, and is very funny, making this an excellent parody of the original classic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, November 15, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gullivera (Paperback)
Milo Manara is the artist whom I can thank today for igniting passion I always had for drawing.

The way he draws faces and bodies is insane. This was the first graphic novel I have seen by him at a very young age, probably before I understood all the sexual contents of it, but the art itself stuck in my head for years to come.

Gullivera is a fun twist on the tale we know today, but instead of a man we see a woman. I think Manara makes up great stories and they are wild, creative and naughty at times, but it's the way he paints the face, the eyes drawn with so few lines are beyond beautiful, the shapes of bodies, many times naked or caugh in kinky acts are pure eye candy.

This is a great addition to my library of other artists, and will forever by my favorite, because it was the key that unlocked my world and introduced to his. I work in fashion design today doing a lot of techincal computer sketches, but I always loved to draw, and I think that me developing my own style is all his thanks.

I would sit through many summer nights at my fathers house in Poland when I went on summer vacations, with my music playing, colored pencils out in front of me, Manaras books all around me and I would draw. I drew my heart out. I did not want to copy him but used him as a guide to find my own art.

His art is a great inspiration to anyone who likes to draw or simply look at simple, beautiful human forms.

Manara draws some of the most beautiful women. Now imagine that beautiful woman as naked giant! In a parody of Gulliver's travels that is erotic without being overly sexual, Manara shows his talent for artwork that will take your breath away and inflate your... well...

4.0 out of 5 stars What an adventure, August 20, 2009
By
This review is from: Gullivera (Paperback)
I seen Manara's work published in other publications for a long time now and I have always admired his artwork. Although this a pretty short graphic novel (about 70-80 pages)and not as hardcore as some of his other works like Click but I still find this very erotic. What I love about Manara is that he has skill in balancing the line between art and perversion and still keep the reader captivated. This was one of the first stories of his I ever read and had been hooked ever since. I just wish there was more to the story b/c some of it seemed kind of rushed.
