This review is from: Gulp FW Minnow Fishing Bait (Sports)
Gulp FW 1" Minnow is by far the best crappie bait I have ever used. 45 years ago I used "Fire Crackers", then Lil' Joe Jiglets (discontinued years ago) so I tied my own marabou jigs and used also used mini jigs depending on the bite.I used to catch hundreds of crappie until the limit was changed to 25 fish. I was one of the first if not the first to catch a limit of crappie in California. The law went into effect at midnight (that is when I started fishing) and had my limit in 17 minutes. If anyone beat me it would not have been by much. There is absolutely no comparison to the jigs I used to use and the Gulp minnow. I use a Shimano Stella 3000 reel with Tatsu 4# line, a 1/64 ounce jig head with a size 8 Owner jig hook. I use a little Gulp spray on the lure occasionally to mask any human scent and it really works well. This year I've caught over 300 crappie up to 17 1/2" long. Generally I can catch my limit in less than two hours. Four times this year I did not catch my limit of crappie, but I have caught my limit every time since I started using Gulp 1" minnows. The only thing bad about gulp minnows, you don't even have to know how to fish to catch fish with them. I don't know if they work other places, but I'm planning on using them in Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, and South Dakota later this year. |
