About the Artist
Public Transit Recordings (PTR) would like to draw your attention to an emcee about to change how you listen to Hip Hop. After appearing on Moonstarr classics like "BB Girl" and "Next MoveÂ", New Orleans emcee Voice has now stepped into the limelight to unleash her lyrical fury on our unsuspecting planet. Hearing Voice drop her incisive rhymes on life and living will no doubt cause you to continually call for rewind. Each of her songs is all seeped in clever wordplay, thick beats, and have "future classic" stamped all over 'em.
Growing up the daughter of a classically trained jazz singer and an actor, it seemed inevitable for Voice to express herself through art and music. She gravitated towards her love of Hip Hop culture at an early age, studying pioneers like Public Enemy, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, The Pharcyde, Eric B. & Rakim, MC Lyte, KRS-ONE and many more blasted beats and consciousness that crept into her headphones through the years. Inspired by them and more recent movers like Bahamadia, Big L, Aceyalone and Medusa, Voice strives to channel the passion, commentary, innovation and delivery that made them great into her own style and flow on the m.i.c.
Voice uses her innovative style and razor sharp delivery to comment on the state of Hip Hop, the media industry, living just to get by, and societal relations. With focussing her sights on topics like the less-than-stellar talent flooding the mainstream hip hop industry (Mediocre), the realities of living in a megalopolis governed by megalomania (L.A. Contradiction) or major label shadiness (Sign Where?), she spits truths. And beatsmiths the world over into her consciousness, no-holds-barred style have noticed. Voice has teamed up with such producers as Zero DB (Fluid Ounce, Ninja Tune), Archetype (21/22 Corp), Murr (da Grassroots, LAL), Moonstarr (PTR), and Catalist (Do Right! Music) and the legendary producer Marc Mac (4hero, Reinforced, Twisted Funk).
