I am a meticulous collecter of all kindsof Picture oriented All Air Activities of Air Wars especiallly from WW11,kOREAN War, and Vietnam War!-- I personally exclude old fashioned, slow Air Battle of WW1! also too fast to catch Beautiful Pictures. I especally like all of the footage of sleek, beautiful B-29 Supperfortress invading Japan. clear Black-White colors are outstanding features! Included summary of "The JAPANESE offensive" is Helpful!

Dramatic Images of the Pacific Air War!,
By
This review is from: Gun Camera Pacific (Paperback)
Air combat is inherently dramatic. Images of opposing aircraft diving at each other, their guns spitting out tracer shells, are the stuff of legend. Fortunately some of those fascinating images were caught on film by various PTO fliers and the result is GUN CAMERA PACIFIC, an adrenaline junkie's dream.First off the bat, the "Gun Camera" title is a bit misleading. Many of the over 170 photos found in the book aren't gun camera stills but photos taken from various aircraft on different missions along with ground shots. Regardless of the title, the reader is treated to an awesome collection of scenes: Bettys going down in flames, destroyers being hammered by B-25s, rescues of downed aviators, Zeros closing in on B-24s, A-20s being downed by AAA, crashlanded aircraft, bridge strikes, air-to-air bombings, kamizake attacks on U.S. ships, deck crashes on aircraft carriers and so on. While the gun camera photos - which include some multiple sequence shots - are the most riveting, some of the other photos rival them for drama. MBI Publishing used quality paper stock so overall photo reproduction is good. Though some photos have been published previously, the book brings them all together in a nice, inexpensive ($24.95) package. This book is sure to please air war buffs.

Aim and Shoot,
By Stephen Andrews (Edmonds, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gun Camera Pacific (Paperback)
The pictures are well placed and the lengthy captions are well worded. Some pages contain sequential shots of ships or aircraft being attacked, which is a bonus. It also illustrates that, while these aircraft and ships were beautiful creations of a bygone era, they were still instruments of death and destruction.
