I had originally ordered the 15 inch elmo and found him to be very small. I bought this one instead. The size is great, going to be perfect for my 18 month old. As far as previous reviews saying his body is hard, he isn't super hard. His arms and legs are the normal stuffing. While his body is slightly harder, with thicker stuffing and the only bean bag beans he has are on his bottom. This helps him to sit up without falling over... His eyes are cloth instead of the hard plastic on the smaller 15 inch version and his mouth is also made out of cardboard just like the smaller 15 inch one, this keeps his mouth open in a permanent grin. All in all I think this is a great sized Elmo, very well put together. He is shaggy, but does not shed like the Fisher Price Elmo. I would recommend for 18 months and up, a smaller child might not be able to carry him around very well simply because of his size.

We purchased this for our 19 month old son who likes to watch Elmo in Grouchland. He is always very interested in Elmo when we are in the toy aisles but he doesn't like them to talk, sing, or move...which is what they ALL do in the stores.

He fell right in love with this Elmo and now carries him all over the house. Elmo has a heavy bottom (weighted) so it is easy for our little one to get Elmo to sit by him for watching a movie or playing with toys. This morning I found my toddler seated in Elmo's lap reading a book!

The fur is soft and is stringy? so it looks like Elmo is covered in fur and it doesn't seem to shed. Our Elmo's eyes are soft (not plastic) but are crooked; we figure that adds character (both myself & my husband attempted to grab the eyes and straighten them so they are noticeably crooked). Elmo's mouth is hard (like it has cardboard in it) but that keeps it slightly open in the silly Elmo grin.

This size Elmo is pretty big, when my toddler is carrying Elmo he gives him a big hug around the neck and Elmo's feet hang below my son's knees but not to the floor. Sitting he is just a few inches shorter than our son which makes them look like "best friends" when they are sitting together.

This Elmo doll was worth the price to me to NOT have any mechanics or noise and he is just what we were hoping for. It has been through the washing machine now several times & dried on low in the dryer and seems to be holding up well, doesn't quite look new anymore but fur remains soft & nice, color is true, and toddler is happy!

I ordered this for my daughter who has recently become an Elmo fanatic. She is only 13 months old, so I wanted to get her something cuddly. While this Elmo doll is realistic, good quality, and pretty much everything advertised, it is HARD, HARD, HARD. Rather than being filled with soft stuffing, it feels like bean bag material. I imagine this will be a good doll for when she is a bit older, but for now, I will have to find something softer. This is definitely no fault of the product, just a consequence of shopping online I guess. Unlike other reviews for Elmo dolls, this one does not shed and is shaggy, which is a plus. I would recommend this for older children.

I was looking for a first Elmo for my Elmo loving 2 year old. I was really worried about getting an Elmo that didn't look like him, but he is perfect! He's shaggy and cute and just the right size. Dont worry about him being too hard because he's not, he's soft and cuddly just some weights in his seat to keep him sitting up, barely noticable. He's the perfect size for my 2 year old to carry around and he looks as though he will last a long time. Most important he looks just like the real Elmo! Highly recommended!

Update: I wanted to update this review since my daughter just got her Gund Elmo stuffed toy for Christmas. This was her favourite present, she barely paid any attention to any thing else and carried it with her everywhere. So, not only did I love it, it is officially toddler approved. She was watching Elmo and kept looking at the doll and looking up at the T.V! I also think she loved the softness as she kept rubbing his fur on her cheek. LOVE THIS ELMO!

Update: 8 Months later:
This Elmo is officially a keeper. My daughter carry's him everywhere and has since she got him. Usually she goes through phases and favourites only last a few months at most, I expected the same with this Elmo, but he is still her favourite, she even sleeps with him. Only issue we had with him as regards to the quality of the product is, during her teething period she liked to chew and bite things, unfortunately Elmo became a victim, she chewed the top "lip" and the black fabric that covers the inside of his mouth tore, exposing the white plastic (not cardboard as stated in another review) it is basically irrepearable, although I will ask my mother in law who has sewn many a ripped toy. Everything else is in good condition, he has even taken a few "baths" by putting him in a pillow case then on a delicate cycle in the washing machine, this worked well and he came out looking and smelling brand new and nothing broke or ripped. My daughter is pretty rough on him so aside from his mouth, he has lasted well till this point. We often set him next to the tv while Elmo is on and he really is a great replica. Again his size is perfect for a toddler or young child, she carrys him easily but he is big enough to look realistic. Anyone looking for a good quality, realistic, soft, first Elmo, this is the one. We are considering buying a new one now my Daughter has stopped teething, and sneaking the old one out to replace him since he has the tear in his mouth, but not sure as he is the original fav, just doesn't seem right! Only real thing I could say that would make him just totally perfect would be that, I noticed the real Elmo is very shaggy, this one is shaggy but not like the real one, he would really be perfect if they could make his fur shaggier and evidently make the fabric in his mouth tougher. Oh and btw, he is super cute!

This stuffed toy has held up great to everything my two year old has thrown at it for the past few months. He LOVES Elmo, and I wanted to get him one that wouldn't fall apart.

One thing I appreciate is that unlike other stuffed animals he has, any Gund brand we own holds up really well. Other stuffed animals seem to turn into blobs after a while, but the Gund's keep their form well. My son drags this all around, pulling the arms and legs, and it still looks like the day we got it.

For the extra $10-$15 over what you might find at Target or Walmart, I'd highly recommend getting this version.

My daughter juz loves this huge softoy. I've been on lookout for Elmo soft toy for quite a while. The size or the quality of those found in local stores do not seem to meet what I'm looking for. This is just perfect! My daughter still plays with it till now :)

We bought this Elmo doll for our 18-month old daughter this year for Christmas. So far, he seems to be pretty durable. I like that his eyes are made of fabric rather than plastic. So far, his red fur is staying on him. I was hesitant about paying almost $40 for a stuffed animal, but it looks like this guy is going to be around for a long time!

This stuffed Elmo is perfect for my 20 month old gradndaughter. He is light weight but large enough for her to tuck under her arm and drag around. He is also soft enough for her to take to bed as a pillow with no loose peices that will come off easily. She loves him.

I got this for my 17 month old nephew and they're now best friends! The quality is impeccable and is very durable to the little one's "abuse" ... I'd highly recommend this as a gift for anyone who has a toddler in their family! Elmo loves you all!
