4.0 out of 5 stars Great next generation HG kit, July 3, 2008
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gundam 00: HG Tieren Ground Type 1/144 Scale Model Kit (Toy)
The Tieren : Ground type kit is a great basic GUNPLA kit. Stress on basic. If you're looking for a fun short no frills build, this is it.

Sure, most HG kits are, but this one has only one accessory, as opposed to the marvelous HGUC GP-02a with its many rockets and sabres and such, but hey, this kit doesn't claim to be exceptional, I just think it's slightly limited. Also worth noting is the rear waist plate has no inside detailing and is incomplete in that way and it can be visible from the front.

That said, this is still a fun little kit for a rainy day build. It is certainly priced right, and almost a bargain. Also, the movable eye is neat feature for a HG kit, and its articulation is top notch, as are the plastics used. So yes, I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the Gundams?, June 30, 2008
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gundam 00: HG Tieren Ground Type 1/144 Scale Model Kit (Toy)
The 1/144 scale HG Tieren Ground Type is a really nice kit. It's so nice, it's actually better than most of the Gundams in the same line.

What you get:
-This suit doesn't have much equipment, but it's all here. The E-carbon hand blade and the machine gun are both included, and both look great. The machine gun fastens onto either arm, and the hand blade stores on a rack in the back when not in use.
-Painting and gluing are unnecessary. All the kits in this series snap together well enough, but this one has build quality above the call of duty. I'd recommend hardcore fans replace the few stickers with paint, but there's really no detail work to worry about, as the suit looks better than most Gundams out of the box.
-Some of the best poseability ever seen on the 1/144 scale. The arms swivel around the chest somewhat for an excellent range of motion, the suit kneels and crouches easily, and even the shoulder armor is swivel-mounted for maximum posing. The classic Zaku-style eye can be easily repositioned to make the most out of any pose, and for such a simple piece, can look really intimidating. There's even a really awesome pose shown on the box where the suit can rest its gun on the large leg shield in a kneeling position to create an incredibly cool firing pose that really shows off the range of motion this suit is capable of.

And really, there is no minus to this suit. For being the generic "bad-guy" suit of the series, this kit is incredibly detailed and poseable. The suit is also very uniquely rounded, making for some unique and visually stunning pieces like the barrel chest and very contoured upper legs. I bought this guy expecting a generic baddie for my display, and to my delight I wound up with one of the coolest 1/144 kits I've ever seen. Get it today!
