5.0 out of 5 stars Best Gundam game for PS2
This game is probably the best Gundam game for the PS2 so far. I already own the Japanese version for PS2 named Mobile Suit Gundam Federation VS Zeon DX and I own the Japanese Dreamcast version named Mobile Suit Gundam Federation VS Zeon and DX. The is an arcade shooting type of game. The game also includes mobile suits from Mobile Suit Gundam and some from 08th MS Team...

3.0 out of 5 stars Thank you very much, mr. Robato.
Where do I begin on federation vs. zeon? Honestly, what have we grown to expect from Bandai and the gundam games? Over and over again we have been dissapointed, big words, little actions. However, alongside 0079 for the Dreamcast, Federation vs. Zeon IS one of the best attempts by the developers to make a sincerly fun game. Being a fan of the genre, and the series, I...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Gundam game for PS2, June 16, 2002

This review is from: Gundam: Federation vs Zeon (Video Game)
This game is probably the best Gundam game for the PS2 so far. I already own the Japanese version for PS2 named Mobile Suit Gundam Federation VS Zeon DX and I own the Japanese Dreamcast version named Mobile Suit Gundam Federation VS Zeon and DX. The is an arcade shooting type of game. The game also includes mobile suits from Mobile Suit Gundam and some from 08th MS Team like RX-78-2 Gundam, MS-06S Char's Zaku II,RX-79[G] Ground Combat Gundam, and other mobile suits. The game also includes secret characters which I won't tell you because you will just have to get the game to find out. According to the Japanese PS2 vesion there are four diffrent modes of play: arcade mode, VS mode, Mission mode, and at least in the Japanese version a network mode. It is about time Bandai that Bandai released one of it's top-selling Gundam video games in the US.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Gundam Game Yet!, November 19, 2002
This review is from: Gundam: Federation vs Zeon (Video Game)
I played Zeonic Front and loved it, due to the fact it was a strategy game. But this game beats them all, and may well be the best Gundam game to date.

It's action is fast paced, and you actually have to fit to defeat an enemy. Instead of the one hit kills, you actually duke it out a bit to defeat anything, including the surroundings.

It has three modes: campaign, versus, and arcade. I love campaign, as it covers the story of the show Mobile Suit Gundam and allows you to be part of the experience. Once you beat both the Zeon and Federation campaigns, a harder mode opens up for campaign, allowing for great replay.

Versus is fun, although you can only have up to 2 human players in total. It allows you to practice and hone your skills. Probably the most enjoyable and used part of the game. Once you defeat certain enemies in Arcade Mode, they become unlocked for Versus Mode. Not to mention that once you beat campaign, opposite sides of mobile suits can be used for the Zeon and Federation. Basically, you will be able to pilot any mobile suit for either side. A very awesome feature.

Arcade Mode is fun, and allows you to rack up high scores and experience the One Year War in 13 missions. This mode can also be played with a friend! I have to admit though this mode has ticked me off several times, because once in a while your enemy is just a little too powerful... I'm trying to become an ace pilot, and remaining relaxed during fights helps a lot, but sometimes bogus shots and cheap shots can make you mad.

Of course, their are options! You can customize your controls, as well as soudn levels, game difficulty, and how much damage is overall caused (allowing for you to either quickjly kill enemies or take a while on them). I think there are more...

A very excellent game, superb graphics and sound...although soem of those sound tracks can get annoying. But hey, that's what putting some techno music on your stereo is for, giving you a great gaming experience. A game you'll come to love and get addicted to, so now I need to sign off and go turn it on!

4.0 out of 5 stars VERY CHALLENGING!, September 30, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Gundam: Federation vs Zeon (Video Game)
this game is your basic arcade type space shoot-em up game.
it starts off with a familiar premise for whichever side you choose(fed or zeon). it starts off that your side is losing the war and its up to you to turn the tide. most of the battles are pretty easy early on, but after a while it becomes pretty evident why your side is losing.enemy AI is very clever and you will often be attacked from all sides.there is about 100 different missions for each side so that adds some replay value, but most are just your basic search and destroy mission. there are also between 25 and 40 different mobile suits and mobile armors that you can play with. overall if your a gundam fan you will love this game because it follows the plotline of the one year war perfectly, and if your not a gundam fan you will like it if your really into shooter/simulation games. that is why I gave this such a high rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is so cool, October 27, 2002

This review is from: Gundam: Federation vs Zeon (Video Game)
This game is so awesome! This is the best gundam game yet. Federation vs. Zeon allows to be a Zeon or Federation gundam fighter. In other games you can only be 1. The game is performed by the actual charecters, and has a lot of machines you can pilot. It has a split screen action so you can play with your friends or with a computer. The graphics are great and the controls are good too. There are even 200 missions to play from. It has even one an award from Japan's famous "Famitsu" magazine. If you are a gundam fan or not, you should definitly buy or rent this game.

4.0 out of 5 stars As far as Gundam games go....There is no other, May 16, 2002

This review is from: Gundam: Federation vs Zeon (Video Game)
This game promises to blow the previous PS2 releases away. Aside from space duels, tons of suits from the 0079 Era, fluent control, there is the fact that the game is developed by Capcom which gives it an edge over other Bandai games. This was released on Saturn in Japan and the DX version on PS2. The ultimate Gundam fighting game is on its way...

The game in graphics is better than Journey to Jaburo and is Hard just Like Zeonic Front. In the game you can play as any mobile suit you want " Big Zam, Braw-bro,Zarkello, Bygro, Zock, the mobile armors and Federation Side you can get G-Fighter, G-Bull and On 2 Versus mode one person can be gundan and one can be G-Fighter and Gundam can ride the G-Fighter(second player get to pilot the G-Fighter). The game is a lot cooler than Journey to Jaburo, but is hard like Zeonic Front. I have Beat the game to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Game OF THe CENTURY!...., December 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Gundam: Federation vs Zeon (Video Game)
This game is the best. You have more challanges and mobile suits than the last 2 gundam games. In ARCADE MODE,you can pick almost everyone in the whole game.Plus you can pick any mobile mobile suits in the game.Whatmakes it easier is that sometimes with one hit, thier finish.Plus you can do very easy combinations with your sword,If you have one.IN versus mode, you and the computer(or partner)can duel it out for fun or revenge! In campaign mode, this is where the fun starts. You can pick zeon or federation. You either start off with the ground type mobile suit or zaku 1.THe more missions you beat, the more mobile suits you'll get.You pick missions from earth and space,as long as it's availible. There are some points in there where it's hard. But I don't mind.I highly reccomend this 4-D game to everyone.

P.S.-Very cool graphics and weapons

5.0 out of 5 stars Japanese Version is a very good game!, June 13, 2002
By
This review is from: Gundam: Federation vs Zeon (Video Game)
I played the Japanese version and it's the best Gundam game for the PS2. It has very good graphics and fast game play. It has a lot of different mobile suits from Mobile SUit Gundam and some from 8th MS Team, such as Zaku II, Gundam, and some other secret ones that I don't want to say. (Don't want to spoil the surprise!) Overall, the game is very fun and exciting. It's about time Bandai released it in the U.S.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thank you very much, mr. Robato., October 17, 2003
This review is from: Gundam: Federation vs Zeon (Video Game)
Where do I begin on federation vs. zeon? Honestly, what have we grown to expect from Bandai and the gundam games? Over and over again we have been dissapointed, big words, little actions. However, alongside 0079 for the Dreamcast, Federation vs. Zeon IS one of the best attempts by the developers to make a sincerly fun game. Being a fan of the genre, and the series, I was able to look past some of the games many shortcumings, and enjoy an emersive glimpse into the world of Gundam. The story mode gives you the choice of playing for either the Federation, or Zeon. This is my favorite feature of the game, and seeing each side has somewhere around 120 missions each, length is not an issue in this game. BUT (and this is a big but) combat is far too easy, even on the hardest level of the game, it feels like playing duck hunt at times, and with certain weapons (most of them) one hit is enough to kill most enemy mobile suits. Wich is a problem, because you begin to get that dreaded game feeling that maybe its because you have 200 times more health than the enemy that your winning. Another problem this game has is the reppitition in the missions. You don't even need the briefings to complete your task, and there are only a few maps. So you find yourself in this cycle: load level, seen it a million times, blast everything there, end level. Not pretty. The multiplayer mode is fun though, and for just twenty bucks, the game is a great addition to your collection if your a gundam fan. Personally, I had some fun with this game, but eventually, the problems become to much, and it just gets boring. I reccomend this game only to people who are diehard fans of gundam, or those who need a fun game to play with friends, but its deffinetly not for everyone

PROS:
Decent graphics
TONS of mobile suits
fun vs mode
LOTS of missions

CONS:
Annoying music (from the original series)
Repetitive
Too easy
Not enough maps.
