If you read this manga and focus on the artwork, it's a masterpiece. The art is the best it's been through the whole series. But if you focus on the story and the translation, it's a mess. Characters' names are reversed ("Nara Athha Uzumi" instead of "Uzuma Nara Athha"), a sound effect isn't translated, and periods are erased all over the place. Del Rey should have gotten better as it went along, and instead it got worse. The story is as bad as it's been--condensed and confusing. This volume's especially bad for storyline--it's as if someone called up the artist and said "GET IT DONE FAST!"

So, I wish I could give this five stars like I did for the others, but I just can't! The story and translation are horrific enough to take a star away from my rating, I'm afraid.

Since I missed the Gundam Seed anime so much since it was cancelled on Cartoon Network and I can't really afford DVDs with my allowance, I bought the manga.

The manga interprets the storyline very well as far as I'm concerned, but the illustration and art quality is horrid. The drawings of the human characters are more exagerrated than they were in the anime, the coloring/details were incorrect on a few characters (Mu La Flaga has blond hair, not brown; Capt. Ramius was shown with/without lipstick in many scenes;Tolle has brown hair, not blond; Dearka has dark skin not pale), making very confusing to distinguish who was who. The camera angles were very mundane and overused, I couldn't really "tune in" because every panel looked the same. In the colored pictures (like in Volume 1: the shading on the first three 'colored' pictures didn't even capture the features on Kira and Athrun's faces), the shadows seemed to be scattered in random places throughout the characters' faces. Overall, I was not impressed with this poor adaptation of a compelling anime series. Don't buy it, even if you're curious and never watched the anime, DON'T BUY IT.
