Very Cool,
This review is from: Gundam Wing #1 (Paperback)
I got this book at Borders today-er, technically yesterday as it's almost 2 AM-and was trying to convince myself to finish what I was doing (writing a very in depth summary including like ALL dialogue for GW ep 4: Nightmare at Victoria) when I decided to start reading it on my way to the bathroom. I started reading (and unfortunately had to stop after my little break), and pretty soon got so hooked I had to stop in the middle of my summary to read. After that I didn't pause except to hit the record button on the VCR for Gundam Wing: Uncut (can you tell I'm obsessed?) until I was done. It was great. The story line was kinda different and moved a lot quicker but that always seems to happen in manga to anime (like Sailor Moon) or anime to manga (like GW). My favorite part was the Chibi Domon W at the end-the characters were so cute! And, naturally, it was hysterical. (Relena got a lot of attention, which pleased me cos she's my fav.) My only problem besides the slight change in plot and speed of events was that Heero seemed...different. He seemed to have less of that "antisocial, thinks he's Evil Kanievel (sp?), and hardly speaks" thing goin' on, and of course the fact that Duo never got a chance to say that made me a bit upset. Yet I'm finding myself reaching to read it again before I even read my other book which i stopped in the middle of (2099 number six: firestorm. read it) despite the fact that it's a real sit on the edge of your seat type book. But I'm not here to review that. Read the first GW graphic novel. It's great.

Gundam Wing Pocket Mixx,
By A Customer
This review is from: Gundam Wing #1 (Paperback)
If you like Gundam Wing you'll like this book. I do, see 5 stars ^_^. It's more in depth than the TV series in the explanations of the operations and the gundams and their pilots. I you HAVE seen the series you HAVE to buy the book you'll like just as much, if not more than the series. The bonus chibi DomonWing comics are very very cute and make heero seen insane, and therefore actually FUNNY. Buy this, you LOVE it!

The Best Manga I've Seen Yet,
By Arwen (A Small Town In NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gundam Wing #1 (Paperback)
If you are a Gundam Wing Fan this is definately a MUST READ book. The storyline moves quickly but at the same time it describes in detail the different operations and the different characters and how they fit into the story. It does follow a slightly differnt storyline then the animated series, but from some points I believe it did a better job. Again, if you have watched the animated series you absolutely must read this book. There is a little language but it's still one of the best mangas I have ever read and I have read quite a bit.

Gundam Wing RD (Reader's Digest),

This review is from: Gundam Wing #1 (Paperback)
First off, this 3-part manga series is very different than the anime. Lots of stuff was cut out, some stuff was changed around, and some new stuff was added altogether. Call it "Gundam Wing Lite", if you will. The artwork is pretty good, the parody comics in the back were kind of funny, and Duo's suggestion on how to get Trowa's memories back made me burst out loud laughing (maybe because it was perfectly in character) but I cannot recommend this series. The artwork saves these books from being rated 2-stars. If you want the full experience, check out the series on DVD, then the Endless Waltz movie and the Ground Zero, Blind Target, and Episode Zero comics. But it's safe to skip these books.

its...different,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Gundam Wing #1 (Paperback)
This manga is definitely a must have for any gundam fan, which is why i still gave it 5 stars, but i would not rate it as one of the best gundam works. First of all, it moves way too fast, i mean, its almost at the mid point by the end of the book! Secondly, whats with the use of action words everywhere?? I mean, "Rage" and "Shake"?? i think those are kind of obvious actions if you look at the pictures. Then of course i have the problem with heero....he changed dramatically from the series...its really hard to believe he was ever the kind-hearted boy from the flashback in endless waltz. Theres not much detail as i hoped there would be, but its got the gundam name and the gundam boys we all know and love so well so what more could you ask for? ....ahem, well i guess there is still a lot, but thats besides the point! ATTENTION: DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT LET WUFEI TOUCH YOUR VIDEO GAMES...HE WILL DELETE THEM.

Good,
By Daniel (RI) - See all my reviews

This is a nice Manga. The sound affects are cool, the storyline is cool, and the artwork is really good. In my opinion Gundam, is better than Nen Genesis: Evangelion. I like manga better than Anime anyway. A lot of you complain that this is nothing like the show, but most mangas aren't a substitute for their anime counterparts. The character development does g kind of fast, though. Definetly worth buying. If you're a Gundam Wing, Manga,Comic, Anime or Gundam fan, you'll love this book. If you were able to, I would give this book a four and a half out of five.~Dan~

Not bad...,
By Jen (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gundam Wing #1 (Paperback)
Being a major fan of the series but unfortunately an American as well, I find it hard to get good GW merchandise at reasonable prices and locations in the US. I picked up this book at ... last weekend, hoping for a good dose of *translated* GW manga. I came out a bit disappointed--the book was simply a rehasing (and not a particularly great one) of the first few episodes of the show. For a fan that already knows everyting or has seen most of the series, it offers nothing really new or exciting. Plus, the artwork is somewhat inferior to that I've seen in other manga, even other dj (Quatre's eyes are just... wrong...). As for the translation itself... well, let's just say that I cannot picture Wu-Fei screaming "Scumbags!" In conclusion, this book is a fine filler for new fans to the show who'd like a general overview of some of the story, but not really worth the money of longtime fans.

Totally different from the anime,
By A Customer
This review is from: Gundam Wing #1 (Paperback)
This would actually be a four1/2 because it was a good manga in it's own right. I think if the anime did not exist to compare it to, alot more people would love it. But the anime does exist (thank god, I don't know how I would live if it did not. P.S Heero is my favorite. I'm not part of the Duo bandwagon.) It's like the writer watched the anime and then abridged it and added bad "sound effects". I did hate the sound effects. "Rage". That is not a sound, that is an emotion that could have just as easily been displayed by a sweatdrop or lines. I like the drawing, but it does not hold up to the Sailor Moon manga or definatly not the Gundam Wing anime in that department. I did not understand the chibi thing at the end, but then again I've never seen G Gundam and it took me half the comic to figure out who those little people were. I did not understand what the thing was with Allen ( is that his name?) and the horse. That confused me. So, like I said, if you go into it without thinking about the anime itself, you'll probably be able to enjoy it, but if you're comparing them the whole time, you won't enjoy it at all.

I liked it, but it's sort of a "Short-and-Sweet" thing.,
By Graham Hancock (Neon Light Productions) (Tupelo, Mississippi United States) - See all my reviews

I recieved mine today, and I read through it, It's awesome, but it doesnt stop and explain things as well as it should. In fact, the series does more explaining than this Graphic Novel does. Another thing, This is a pocketbook version. It's pretty small, and it's a really compact little book, on top of that, the ink comes off on your hand... kiss that collector's value goodbye! lol. This is a more "put together" version of the individual Manga's that were released by Tokyopop in a four pack collection earlier this year. This is a great thing to have, for reference. So, I still recommend this graphic novel to Gundam fans out there.

*YaY* Gundam Rocks!,

This review is from: Gundam Wing #1 (Paperback)
This book was really good! If you like the show, then you'll like the book. It's a little different from the show though, 'cause it goes faster, but there are parts in the book that aren't in the show, and there are someparts that are in both, but changed a little. But it's still good! those things don't make it bad, they make it good! *GriN* i'm not confusing you, am i?
