5.0 out of 5 stars Something diffirent, December 24, 2011
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gundam ZGMF-X56S/B Gundam Sword Impulse MG 1/100 Scale (Toy)
I enjoy building models a lot. From cars to planes. So why not try something different? Even though the instruction is in another language. Pics are easy enough to understand to put the model together. For painting, that in a nut shell not easy. But there sights online to help understand how to paint models, and applying the sticker. If you don't paint, the model is colorful enough to not really need any. But if your like me with detailing, thats different. Its either guess or look at pics and go from there.

Pros: just like the show, you can have model set to ready formation of three parts, or have it combine.
Model can be poses in many ways, legs, arms, hands.
Weapons: 2 blade knifes, two long swords, that can be put together! I post a pic of this model to show.
Wings are blades as well, and one riffle. one shield.
Sands up strong

Just like the show, this guy is few peaces put together to form the robot! You can display it as peaces or 2 other forms for robot mode.

Cons: Because the bot is put together in three peaces. It takes little fiddling to put it together and don't hold it upside down or it will fall apart. So putting into different poses you tend to have to fix it up some (you can glue it to fix the problem: personly I did not glue it). There is another peace that replaces the plane. But just don't feel the same. Still lots of ways to display it.. Which is a plus so every blue moon, you can make changes to what you like.
You can have shild close up (but there a peace that little lose and falls off) or have it open up.

This kit just sword display. Thinking about getting the others sets to show all modes... Put I put up a pic with the sword combined and simple pose. sword combine taller then the model lol!

I really enjoy putting this kit together! I really enjoy watching the show, its funny I put the model together before I seen the show!

Those who know me know that I'm no fan of Gundam Seed Destiny, the rather terrible sequel to the hit show Gundam Seed. From every aspect including plot, characters and even MS design GSD seemed to be worse in nearly every way. This is however not a review of the series so I'll move onto the MS design. GSD does many questionable things like recycle UC Zion MS desings as the 'upgrades' to the older ZAFT suits (ok) and then when it comes to the Gundams, they took the idea of overdone backpack designs and turn it up to 11 here, and not in a good way. Among the 'hero' MS, the Destiny itself was a poor design, Strike Freedom is just a fanwank ripoff of the Freedom, a much better design IMHO and Infinite Justice which looks exactly the same as the original Justice...

The one shining design in this rather poor show turned out to be the melee version of the first title suit, the Sword Impulse Gundam. With it's non traditional sports car red color scheme and rather imposing anti-ship swords (ASSes) this has to be one of my favorite designs in the Seed universe, and they capture the design very well in the MG kit, which was one of my favorite builds this year.

The kit comes in the large MG sized box and not only includes parts for the MS, but the backpack accessory weapons/jets including the core fighter and Sword flier unmanned craft. Details on the inner frame and outer armor plates are nicely done and the kit is designed to transform into it's component parts (which was frankly a dumb design) but one cool gimmick is you can remove the core fighter to have it on display as well as the sword flier...and the kit comes with a fighter dummy plug to fill the empty space inside including an adapter back plate making it compatible with other weapons packs from different Seed MG kits including the Strike Noir and Freedom.

Articulation is very nice as you're able to position the kit in some of the craziest poses making show accurate dioramas but be warned some of the joints are a bit tight at first so you might be concerned about breaking joints when you pose your newly built kit.

Parts are molded in color matched plastic and it comes with a set of stickers and dry rubon decals which are a pain to apply, but look so good compared to stickers or even waterslides.

Hi,
The mg sword impulse is very impressive. This is my first master grade kit and I will definitely be getting more in the future. Even though it is a mg it was not as hard to build as i expected. The build was fun and the final product is impressive. Now for the pros and cons.

Pros
-nice beam effect parts for the flash edge (beam boomerang things) and the Excalibur swords.
-stiff joints
-good assortment of accessories (1 beam rifle, 2 flash edges, 2 Excalibur, 2 dagger and the big boomerang and shield)
-Its hard to know what to say there is just so much

cons
-stiff joint-the joints are still witch is real nice but it feels like I might break something trying to repose it. (be careful thats all)
-just a nitpick but I wish the ankles were more articulated. They don't have much side to side movement.
-It looks like the shield can have a beam shield effect part put on it but it does not come with one.

After all is said and done I would definitely recommend this model to any one who is in to gunpla and wants a master grade. I am very grad that I picked this model kit.

Though Gundam Seed Destiny was mediocre at best, the mobile suit design were pretty awesome. Sword Impulse no exception. Being a 1/100 scale, the size of this model is pretty nice. Articulation is great due to the ever improving technology of Bandai's models. It also comes with a fair amount of accessories like 2 anti-ship Excalibur swords that can combine into one, 2 Flash Edge beam boomerangs, two daggers that fold into the side-skirts, a beam rifle, and a shield that can expand into a slightly bigger one. The coloring is scheme on this model is also pretty cool. Being a Master Grade or MG for short, the detail and paint are already pretty good. Although if more time were spent on this model in terms of top coat, panel lines, and decals, this already excellent model will look even better. Definitely one of the better looking MG models out there.

This model is great. It was better than i thought it would be. It very sturdy and looks great even without painting. You'll love the beam sabers, they're HUGE and stylish. This kit will bring a little more life into your gundam collections. It stands out very well. Definately one of my favorites, i'm sure you'll love it.
