4.0 out of 5 stars The long awaited sequel to Fed vs Zeon
There aren't to many Gundam games that come State side, let alone PAL (Europe, Australia, Africa, etc) but those that we do get tend to meet average standards. Although GvsZG doesn't have the graphics of Gundam's earlier games like Journy to Jaburo, Zeonic Front or Encounters in Space. The easy gameplay and controls make up for it.

Anybody can play this...

Anybody can play this game! The controls were designed for toddlers, there are a ton of Mobile Suits (over 50) to choose from and 30 of them can transform at will a nice new feature.

This is the direct sequel of MSG although the Anime has yet to appear in the states, arguably the best series with some of the best Mobile Suits. I recomend this game to any Gundam fan or any person playing video games for the first time.

With plenty of Robots and Missions tons of missions there is a great deal of replay value. Oh and did I mention multiplayer? It has that too and Co-op so you and a friend can play together.

As for the cons, it's not much of an improvment over Fed vs Zeon, but that was a solid game itself so that's not as bad as it may sound. The stages are rather small and only so many robots can be on screen at one time.

I highly recomend this to Gundam fans and younger gamers because of the easy gameplay. Everybody else rent it or look on the bargain bin.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great gundam game, September 21, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam (Video Game)
In Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam, you get to play as either the Titans (as shown in the end of 0083 and in the Zeta Gundam series), the AEUG (in Zeta Gundam) and Axis (formerly Zeon). i've already seen the Zeta Gundam series and it sticks to the story line as well as expands it. it allows you to "change history" by compeleting certain objectives. you also play as the pilots from the series. the graphics are good. you can control all the MS from Federation vs Zeon plus the new AEUG and Titans suits. the music is good but sometimes can become old. it has the actual voice overs from the series.the only thing that i can think of that is not good is the repetion of levels. you fight in the same exact area over and over again but with different objectives. and you kinda get the storyline if you haven't watched the series Zeta Gundam but to fully understand it, you'll need to watch Zeta gundam.

This is one of the best Gundam game around. The best thing is you can pilot 50+ mobile suit in their CG version, now I can enjoy the game with my 9 year old son because of the easy game control.Unlike the PS1 gundam assault game in which so many buttons has to be entered in order to activate an attack, the gundam VS Zeta gundam has much easier game control I highly recommended to all gundam fans

First off, this game is obviously a sequel to gundam FVZ, by the name at least. after playing it a bit i realized as much, it has some minor tweaks to the grafics and transformable mobile suits. there are 72 mobile suits and all the original mobile armors. the space combat has only slightly improved, though barely noticeable over FVZ, and is still considerably worse than gundam Encounters in space. it's story mode plays out the story of the original gundam and zeta gundam, with a twist, you can change the outcome of the game by completeing the hard missions in a special way. most of these just cause a pilot thast normally dies to live making a story branch off. all in all if you liked gundam: federation vs zeon, you'll like gundam gundam vs zeta gundam.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome vs. Zeta Awesome, December 15, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam (Video Game)
Hint: Awesome Wins

With Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam (hereon shortened as GvsZG) there is no easy way to describe or review it. The reason is because it's that kinda game. But I will do my best.

Gameplay: 8/10
With GvsZG the thing that really drove me was the extremely user friendly controls. I believe they were made so that you could enjoy the game without having a Journey to Jaburo incident. The enemies actually are quite smart, even in the first few levels, and the named characters are even more intellegent, especially *shocker* Jerid Messa of the Titans. The thing that really makes this fun is the large amount of missions, though some do get repetitive such as when you defend Kennedy Space Center in 6 characters' mission. The only reason the gameplay gets an 8 is because of the awakening system. This mode take away from the fun a little because the only useful one i have found is recover because you regain full health when you die, but lose a peice of the mobile suit and it's usually the most important.

Sound: 9.5/10
In GvsZg the sound is incredible. You hear every little detail of the battle with the exception of the pilot's screaming as he/she dies. There is only one problem, and it's with the music. On a few levels it's innapropriate to play certain songs but they're not the ones usually blamed, no the so called "Happy Joyful Tunes" are actually sad when you read the translation of the lyrics. No, my problem is they play Gallant Char on levels without him and in Zeta Gundam Levels. I've also heard Meguriai in ZG and Lalah's Death son, Beginnings, on a what if mode where she lives and fights in A Baoa Qu.

Story: 7/10
To me, you get only a sampling of the story behind MSG and ZG in this game and have to atcually watch the series to fully understand it.

Graphics: Who Gives?
Yes, i am one of the very few who take story and gameplay over graphics anyday.

Replayability: 10/10
With the faults this game has you would thinks it would be lower, but NO! This game has always been calling me back and i still play it to this day. If you are a true Gundamaniac than this will definitely be in your collection.

So all-in-all this game gets a 8.6/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Way bigger improvement compared to Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon, October 15, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam (Video Game)
If anyone has ever played Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon, then Gundam vs. Zeta is the game for you. The title kind of throws you off but the gameplay and 3rd person view says it all. I'll list some differences between both games from my point of view. When I put "Character", it means a hero/heroine from both good and/or evil side such as Amuro + Char

DIFFERENCES
(Will say and start with Gundam vs. Zeta then Fed vs. Zeon. Detailed changes are listed below as #(number)+(plus sign))
-In Arcade and Campaign mode, "Character" voices
1+: In Gundam vs Zeta, "Character" voices are always enabled, even if two human players play or if enemy "Character" spawns. In Fed vs. Zeon, voices were disabled unless you played solo (only in Arcade as a "Character", in Campaign, you were a 3rd party pilot who is in the war and can only hear "Character" voices during the battle, your pilot does not talk at all)
2+: This is only in Gundam vs. Zeta, ALL "Character"s have the same 3 special ability you pick during the loading screen for the mission (only can choose one and activates manually in battle once the yellow bar is fully charged/flashing)
-Campaign Mode
1+: In Gundam vs. Zeta, Play a "Character" to unlock another "Character" story, actions made during the game can change story. You could also customize the mobile suits to make it a bit easier in missions. In Fed vs. Zeon, you are a 3rd party pilot during "The One Year War" throughout the whole game. Choices you make earn you different mobile suits.
2+: In Gundam vs Zeta, your "Character" against the enemy "Character" is a fair fight. The damage you do and receive are about the same when you do it to the enemy "Character". In Fed vs. Zeon, if there was a "Character" on the enemy side, their bullets and beam damage rips you apart; usually 1 to 3 hits to kill your mobile suit (Depending on enemy "Character" mobile suit, Gundam itself WILL survive a lot longer then using a normal mobile suit.) Your attacks against the enemy "Character" virtually does nothing (barely noticeable damage) unless your using Gundam, still takes awhile to take them down though and majority of the times, they retreat after sometime in the battle
3+: In Gundam vs Zeta, there is no such thing as repairing your mobile suit after a mission, it starts back at full health when you start a new mission. In Fed vs. Zeon, your mobile suits have a life bar; depending on how much damage you have received, how many missions you have completed, and the mobile suit your using, will effect repair (If you use Gundam, even if you take ZERO damage, the health bar is in red range meaning you can't use Gundam and it takes forever to repair)
-More mobile armors/giant suits in Gundam vs. Zeta.
1+: Only in Gundam vs. Zeta, some mobile suits can switch to their flying mode such as Zeta Gundam, but it only lasts until BOOST gauge is drained all the way, then you change back to human form
-The Power Gauge (The Red/Blue bar that drains on death)
1+: In Gundam vs. Zeta, if you use Gundam and die, it drains 1/2 the gauge. In Fed vs. Zeon, Gundam drains about 2/3 of the gauge. Of course some missions end if you die on your mobile suit.

It is more balanced in Gundam vs. Zeta, which is understandable since it is a better version. I love it and still play it today. The only thing that is disappointing to me is that some mobile suits have problems such as the Hyaku Skiki (when you move the mobile suit around, it moves on a angle, not the whole body facing front), and the Zeta Gundam/Gundam Mk 2 (the mobile suits don't walk, they hover, in the series and in reality, most mobile suits are walking instead of hovering).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Gundam game, September 1, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam (Video Game)
Simply put, this game is a must for Gundam fans. Story line alone (with extra "what if" scenarios including keeping certain characters alive/killing them off) will take many many hours to complete. Primarily, this game plays off the successful game play style of Federation vs Zeon (which will always be #1 in my heart) with music, fights, characters, everything pulled right from Zeta Gundam.

The only problem with this game, other than a few personal grievances (especially the stupid orange stripe marking the boundaries) is the repetitious game play. Otherwise, another game Gundam fans must experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mobile Suit Gundam Vs Zeta Gundam, December 3, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam (Video Game)
Recommended for Mobile Suit fans, specifically those who prefer UC. It is great for being able to blow up everything you see, and the ability to rewrite some of the more lackluster moments of Zeta Gundam with the main storyline. As you advance through the game you can unlock suits from previous and later shows. Furthermore there are virtually no named characters from the show that don't have their own story line in Universal Century mode. It is one of those games that you either hate or don't put down for the better part of two weeks.
