4.0 out of 5 stars great
Its a good game if you are a fan of run and gun type games. However if you are the type that wants your games to have good graphics then you should stay away from it. Regardless, compare to the first Gungrave, the graphics were toned down but the game play has been improved along with the length of the game and they even added two extra playable chars. 3.0 out of 5 stars Could of been better.
Gungrave Overdose is prime example of how a game can be flawed but good at the same time. Good story and cutscenes with marred gameplay. The story I was kind of surprised it was as good as it was. The gameplay is extremely repetitive as was the first and what hampers it is the camera when you get hit can go off balance and make it hard in some instances. The game is...

Its a good game if you are a fan of run and gun type games. However if you are the type that wants your games to have good graphics then you should stay away from it. Regardless, compare to the first Gungrave, the graphics were toned down but the game play has been improved along with the length of the game and they even added two extra playable chars. If you enjoyed the first Gungrave then you will enjoy this one even better. One improvement is that you can charge up your weapons to do combo shots and you can now deflect missiles with your coffin along with blocking with it and using it in combos. There are 9 demolition shots now and you can even do an explosive taunt just to look cool after causing massive genocide. If you are a fan of the original Gungrave or is into run and guns or beat em ups and if you are the type of person that is about story and gameplay over graphics, or if you love destruction and blowing up countless objects in the environment besides your foes, then it is the game for you. For those that only care about graphics, go play something thta suits your standards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overdose is a can of Whoop ass!!, September 23, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gungrave Overdose (Video Game)
This game is three times as good as the first one! The graphics are great and so is the gameplay. Also adding two new characters to the game that you can play as is another kick ass feature! There are more ways to use your skills, from charging your shots to using your coffin as a shield against rockets. If you want a fantastic game that never gets old, then I suggest that you pick up OD, because there is no better way to relieve stress than blowing the hell out of a bunch of wooses!

5.0 out of 5 stars From Germany to America, July 15, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gungrave Overdose (Video Game)
I played the original Gungrave in Germany. Loving the PAL coding system, I was able to play it in English and German. The first game was a great. I love the aiming system, the plot, the graphics, and the style.

So it comes as no surprise that the 2nd one is just as great as the first. More enemy variants, Sure I'm missing the Neo-Western clothing, but that's minor. The clothing seems to symbolize the situation anyways. In the first game it was "Undead Cowboy versus a whole city", and now it's "Undead Gang's final fight" as they introduce the two new characters, which is another plus.

If you liked the anime, and are a nut for games that are unique and fun, and for the most part, unnoticed, you'll love this. Gungrave got me in germany, and It's awesome to play it in good ol' America

I love the anime series and bought both Gungrave video games. I'm a casual gamer who likes it simple and to the point this game is good by my standards.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could of been better., October 29, 2009

This review is from: Gungrave Overdose (Video Game)
Gungrave Overdose is prime example of how a game can be flawed but good at the same time. Good story and cutscenes with marred gameplay. The story I was kind of surprised it was as good as it was. The gameplay is extremely repetitive as was the first and what hampers it is the camera when you get hit can go off balance and make it hard in some instances. The game is ultimately pretty easy until you get to the last boss battle which is not so much hard but it is highly annoying. Sound wise its on par what you would expect. Graphically nothing to special here and is one of the weakest spots in the game and I feel the original looked more detailed.
Pros - cool art style, good story, awesome cutscenes, highly fun at times
Cons - at time the camera system fails, the targeting sucks, overall feels rushed and unpolished, extremely repetitive, poor level design
