3.0 out of 5 stars OK
Not a great flick, but you can tell most of the actors have done a tour.
They rarely point a barrel at one another.

Decent cinematography, but starts dragging after 45 mins of watching them doing patrols.
Def some hardware on display.

Rent me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A riveting movie, February 10, 2009
This review is from: Gunheavy (DVD)
Post-apocalyptic themes have been a popular staple of science fiction in both literature and films. BriknDVD's "Gunheavy" is a riveting movie of this genre where after the collapse of civilization a totalitarian new world order is emerging calling itself 'The Founders'. In opposition is the 'Republican Commonwealth' a desperate group who has developed a secret weapon in the form of a robotic gun. The problem is that this weapon has a mind of its own. A small group of Special Force soldiers rebel and seek to gain control of this weapon. To complicate matters there are groups of unaligned and heavily armed gangs with their own private agendas. The action is non-stop and the body counts constantly rising. Hugely entertaining and highly recommended for fans of the post-holocaust general of military science fiction, the 65 minute full color digitally mastered "Gunheavy" DVD (feature both English and Spanish subtitling) includes such special features as a 13 minute 'Behind the Gun Featurette'; 'Jack of Bullets' (a 13 minute short film); an official trailer, and a director's commentary.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good and solidly (is that even a word?) entertaining!, January 5, 2009
This review is from: Gunheavy (DVD)
While far from perfect, the film has great low-budget effects, non-stop action, and a decent (if somewhat convoluted) plot. And at only 65 minutes, it's plenty entertaining and the commentary track is a laugh riot (are these guys high LOL?). Trust me, there's worse crap coming out of Hollywood every passing second! Had these guys been handed a million dollars, who knows what they could have acheived!

4.0 out of 5 stars Want to see what a true underground Sci-Fi film?, December 19, 2008

This review is from: Gunheavy (DVD)
Gunheavy is a return of the apocalypse sci-fi films like Hardware, and the machine fueled films like Tetsuo: The Iron Man. Set after the apocalypse, this is a tale of a future gone terribly wrong with people being outnumbered by guns, and everyone left alive is a soldier for one army or another. A group of people known as The Founders must destroy a top secret robotic gun, a weapon of mass destruction stolen by a hostile group of defectors, but it ends up that the weapon has a mind of its own, and no one can control it! Their journey to destroy the gun is not an easy one with other factions, and hostile groups they encounter along the way. The soldiers fight to stay alive, and with the numbers of dead rising, this could very well be their last mission.

Gunheavy is the true definition of what a great independent sci-fi movie can be. This film never lets up the entire time, and had me gripping my seat at every twist and turn. This film is one not to be missed for any sci-fi junkie who needs their much deserved fix. The use of deadly force is authorized!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth watching, November 22, 2009
This review is from: Gunheavy (DVD)
Normally, I don't post for amateur movies unless they suck.
This one obviously doesn't.
That being said ...

( - )
The bass soundtrack is over amplified for whole movie.
The special effects are a joke. I was laughing everytime they showed up ( e.g. gun shot stars in woods ). Sounds & imagination would have gone farther.
The one guy was holding his gun by the muzzle. Hello, it gets hot when fired ... LOL

( + )
The cinematography is fresh, imagine Crank 2 without the suck.
The hour went by quickly & keeps your attention.

I wish the producer & cast much luck with their future endeavors.
Good job!
:)
