I absolutely LOVED this dvd. Not only did it show me the various
revolvers and rifles used by famous outlaws ­it TOLD me why these guys chose them. So fascinating!!! Also they had several very rare, one of a kind, pieces that were (for me) works of art. But my favorite is the absolutely LAUGH OUTLOUD section on how Hollywood has portrayed Billy the Kid from Roy Rogers to Marlon Brando. DO NOT MISS IT!!!

I was dissapointed in this DVD. It is "lightweight" and doesn't go into the depth that it leads you to believe it does. It's over before you know it and left me dissatisfied.

What a great study of the guns of the old west, both recognizable as well as the more obscure. Though familiar with firearms, I was unaware of the varied weapons favored by the outlaws and gunslingers of Billy the Kid's era. Anyone would recognize the Colt revolvers that were carried by every Cowboy in every western. It's the double action Colt Thunderer or the .44 caliber, easily concealable Bulldog that caught me by surprise. It was refreshing to see the authentic old west weapons tested side by side with their modern equivalents. I also found it interesting that one of the experts was the actor who played Texas Jack in Tombstone. The DVD "extra" about his gun collection was exceptional. I learned a great deal from this DVD. The only downside to "The Guns of Billy the Kid" is that I'll end up buying myself some authentic cowboy guns, a small price to pay...........

My Dad loves guns and all the old west stuff. I needed a B-day present for him in September and asked one of his hunting friends what he might like. He's the one who told me about this DVD. I guess Dad liked it becuase he brought it up hunting with him. And he got two deer during muzzle loading season last week, so maybe the DVD is lucky too!

I received the DVD "The Guns of Billy the Kid" as a gift and what a great surprise! The technical information shared by the experts was more than a gun enthusiast could hope for and the period western wear added a very pleasant visual effect. I hope additional similar DVD's are in the planning process.
