This review is from: Guns Don't Argue (Audio CD)
"Guns Don't Argue," released in 1971, was Alcapone's sophomore effort, but there is nothing spohomoric about it at all.The tracks show an amzing growth in a period of mere months betweem his debut lp "Forever Version" and this one. His maturity level is startling for a man who was only 23 when it was recorded. All that being said, the lp is a giant leap forward for Alcapone, and certainly solidified his place in the inner sanctum of toasters, ranking with U-Roy as undisputed master of the style. The price is a bit much, as it is an import cd, and I realize that, but fans of the toasting style will quickly admit that this is a small price to pay to hear greatness, and I would fully concur with them. This album is a gem among gems and well worth the small splurge on the credit card and the wait to get it. You won't regret it once you get it. |
