Pretty good, August 19, 2006
This review is from: Gunships: A Pictorial History of Spooky - Vietnam Studies Group series (6032) (Paperback)
I checked this book out of the library, but a few pages were ripped out, so technically my review is not a complete review. Nevertheless, the book was a good intro into the history of gunships. It briefly steps you through the AC-47, AC-130, AC-119 (which did actually come out later than the AC-130, despite the fact that the C-119 was a much older airframe than the C-130), and a few more small scale planes that were "converted" into some sort of gunship.
Also mixed in are a few stories of going on missions with the aforementioned planes. There were a few examples of the AC-47 smoking a few NVA's and there were some stories of AC-130 missions.
Recommended for anyone interested in C-130's, close-air support, Vietnam airpower, or Air Force planes in general.

Good companion book to "Gunships" short read but informative, wets you interest for further reading. Love the C-47, My father flew one in Europe in WWII and was towed into Combat 4 times in a CG4A Combat Glider by them. Good example of a great plane will will fly forever.
