"Bad Business" has more of a modern feel to it than most entries in The Gunsmith series since it's set in San Francisco amidst a metro backdrop. The mysteries are plentiful here as Clint plays detective, seeking out a would be assassin or assassins at the request of a lovely hotel owner. There's a lot going on in "Bad Business" as this particular entry can boast having one of the more complicated plots in the series. Clint does a few surprising things this time around too-especially when a certain individual disrespects the woman he's working for. As always, Mr. Adams has his share of hook-ups also including one in particular that's especially memorable.

5.0 out of 5 stars "It's over," he said ,"except for the explanations." ...Clint Adams, June 9, 2010
The other reviewers tell about all you need to know without giving away the story.
This is more of a detective story or a whodunit;than we usually get in this series. The story all takes place in San Francisco ;so there is nothing about the Old West, deserts and canyons,Indians, chases, saloon or mainstreet shootouts, horses, trains, gold mines, stage hold-ups,or really any historical connections.About all that qualifies it as a western is that it takes place in the right time period. The Gunfighter is simply a detective solving crimes, lots of suspects and motives and wraps it all up in the end with a bunch of explanations.
If you are one who likes detective stories,it will be more to your liking than what you can expect to find in most episodes of this series.

In Bad Buisiness Clint Adams is sent on an errand to San Francisco by the Pinkerton Detective Agency to investigate the death of an agent. He soon finds himself working on an attempted murder of a hotel owner. It is not long before other hotel owners start dying and Adams finds himself drawn deeper and deeper as the bodies begin to stack up. This is an interesting story and like the other reviewer said it has one of the more unusual love scenes. My biggest complaint about the story is that just like in the other story that I reviewed it does not seem to have any real ending it just stops as if the author realizes that he only has a page left to wrap things up a little more closure would be much appreciated.
