5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful introduction to the greatest Master!
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is truly the greatest living spiritual Master of today. This book presents him in a very enchanting way, with stories and experiences of seekers who have been with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. It's incredible to notice how simple and natural a Master can be and how he can bring profound changes in the life of a true seeker.

A must read ~ Just go for it.

2.0 out of 5 stars lame attempt at a biography
Let me start off with stating that I did not finish this book. I read the first several chapters and I just couldn't finish it. It was all fluff. Don't get me wrong. I am well disposed to like this book, for I find Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to be an amazingly interesting person. I have known him personally and have been intrigued and greatly inspired by him. But this...

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and Empowering, July 18, 2003
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar truly is the Guru of Joy. HE is the epitome of unbounded love and unlimited service towards the humankind. The author, Gautier, beautifully describes his interactions and experiences with the Master, the different ways in which he was reminded that he's always taken care of, the graceful lifestyle of this Superman, life changing experiences from other devotees and a lots more...a happy read...truly inspiring...

5.0 out of 5 stars A great experience, April 10, 2007
This is my first ever review of a book on philosophy or related topic. Despite my very little knowledge of The Art of Living Foundation and its founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, I somehow decided to buy this book. But I am glad that probably I was destined to do so and every chapter was a great reading experience.

The author has done a splendid job in bringing out the message of universal peace and love as practiced and preached by The Guru of Joy. Enjoy reading and experience the peace within.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, June 17, 2010
This review is from: The Guru of Joy: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and the Art of Living (Paperback)
Francois Gautier has done a good job of capturing the life of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in this book though not much is known about Sri Sri Ravi Shankar before he became famous. Francois brings a certain skeptic western perspective given his European upbringing which makes it a balanced reading. Though it is very hard to really capture the true essence of the life of a spiritual master, Francois does justice as he starts with his personal experiences.

Overall an excellent book about a modern day saint!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended, April 21, 2010
This review is from: The Guru of Joy: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and the Art of Living (Paperback)
This is stupendous work by author Francois Gautier. He has openly and admirably recounted wondrous moments, anecdotes, experiences and the time spent with His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Scripting the vastness of the sky or the depth of the ocean isn't easy; in fact it can be overwhelming, but Gautier charts the biography of Sri Sri, a man of that stature, in lucid, honest and charming style.

I am well disposed to like this book, for I find Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to be an amazingly interesting person. I have known him personally and have been intrigued and greatly inspired by him. But this book misses the mark. It reads like one long PR piece. It offers no real insight into who Sri Sri is. It just gushes like an infatuated teenager. I was greatly disappointed.

I am heavily into spiritual living. I did not enjoy this book and would not recommend others to read it. This is just my opinion though. Others may disagree.
