My 4 yr. old son and I had lots of fun going over the neat things included on this map, and he loved to find all the perfect locations to put the stickers! Since I work in D.C., he was very intrigued to see where my office is. We were able to talk about all the different sites, monuments, and bulidings that I have been to in my 15 years living here, and where he would like to go and visit next summer. He refers to it as "his map", and it really is laid out in a way that even small children can understand. It is a great resource and learning tool.

My kids, aged 5 and 9, both loved this map. They sat in the back seat while we were driving around D.C. looking at where they had been and where they were going to go. I was looking forward to using the stickers to mark where we had been, but there were ones we couldn't use ("we slept here" -- who can afford to stay in D.C. proper?) and others of the "we saw this" variety that there weren't enough of. It was even a help to us parents when we couldn't find something on our big fancy map from AAA since this map is much simpler, bigger, and easier to read.

My 8 year old really enjoyed this map. It comes with stickers that can be added as you visit each place. Large, colorful, easy to read map, it has pictures of all the sights. Really got him excited about the trip & made a great souvenir when he got home.

I originally had purchased this map for my 8 year old son to look at before we went on our trip to DC. It looks similar to a map from Sea World or Disney World. Its very large scale, showing major roads and places of interest. Its very easy to read. It isn't necessarily to scale.

This map turned out to be quite helpful to me during our trip. I used it in conjunction with a pocket metrorail map. The metrorail map was very detailed. It showed all the streets downtown and all the metro stops and is to scale. However, the print is really small and sometimes hard to read. I didn't carry my reading glasses with me when we were walking. I used the children's map as a macro "where do we want to go" map. You could unfold it and have a family stand around and look at it to decide since everything was so big. Then I used the pocket metrorail map as a detailed "how do we get there" map.

We got three of these before our family trip to D.C. Two to put up on the wall (half the city is on each side of each map), and one to take with us. It really helped our kids (four, six and eight) get excited about seeing everything. Once we got there, the older ones could use the map to guide the family. Back at home, we remembered the trip, using the map to point out where we were for each memory.

This map sparked their curiousity, and now they can visualize our trip. They've found many more places of interest for a future trip, and even the map we took with us held up well.

We sent this book to friends who were taking their kids to DC, from Seattle. They said that their son, then 6, really liked having this information with him. He liked to know where they were and were going. Fun to read ahead of time, to prepare for the trip.

My husband loves maps, makes them for a living, and spends a lot of free time looking at maps. My 5 year old son loves looking at them right along side his dad. For my son's birthday I bought him this map of DC since we'll be moving to the area soon. He was SO excited to get this map and spent a ton of time looking at it and studying it and making sure he folded it correctly. It's very cool.

This map is OK for about a second grader. Maybe older if they are just getting into maps, but my 10 year-old found it too juvenile. We have not actually gone to Washington yet, so maybe it will turn out better for recording events of the day.
