Book Description

August 1, 2004
When a 47-year-old, recently divorced, female psychiatrist was encouraged to start dating, a male colleague gave her one bit of advice: "Laura, all guys are schmucks, if you learn to accept that you'll do fine." Not quite the words any woman would want to hear, but they unwittingly started her on a quest to find out if that was true as guy after guy she quoted this to enthusiastically agreed. In interviews with men of all ages, from teenagers to guys pushing 100, Dr. d'Angelo tells you what the experts - the men themselves - told her about their hearts and souls. From boyhood to old age, they divulged the schmucky side of their lives. And, in doing so, they revealed the very things women need to know to survive.and enjoy men.

I was very interested in reading this book because I wanted to see why men act the way we do. The author is very accurate, and she should know--she raised two boys and I am sure they are schmucks, too.

I liked this book because it's an insightful look into the minds of men that you won't find in many other places. It's also a quick read from a different perspective, the always interesting psyche of a psychiatrist. Even if you disagree with the book, you have to realize this stuff wasn't made up.
