Move over Firefighters! There's a new team of hot guys in town...and they love baby animals. In the latest Porn for Women title, we're gifted with adorable guys and their equally adorable puppies, kitties, bunnies, chicks (the feathered kind) and even a goat! It's actually hard to decide where to look on each page with all the cuteness and eye candy available.

Each page has a caption that will make you chuckle -- before you turn your attention back to where it belongs...on the picture. Women everywhere will find inspiration in every page of Hot Guys and Baby Animals. This will make a great gift for your single women friends, your married women friends...Oh, and don't forget a copy to thumb through for yourself!

I bought the book as a gift for my daughter but, of course, had to look through it first. And then fought the urge to keep it -- those men are a feast for the eyes, and the pairings with the baby animals are perfect. One makes you go, "Ahhhh," and one makes you go "Yum!" You figure out which is which!

Looking for a gift for that certain someone on your list that just needs a good dose of cute baby critters that isn't four? Look no further than this adorable book from the publisher who brought us Sorry I Pooped in Your Shoe: (and Other Heartwarming Letters from Doggie).

It's simple really. Attractive--and sometimes shirtless--men holding or posing with baby animals.

From puppies and kittens to ducklings and goats (okay, there's even one who has a snake) there're more cute critters in this tome than the petting zoo. Surely someone wouldn't mind petting some of the occupants of these pages? These aren't overly artsy though each has a definite portrait feel. The model and animal(s) have their names on the opposite page with a cute little 'fact' about each. My personal favorite is Billy Ray and Georgia's "Billy Ray used to be a competitive figure skater. Georgia is a kung fu master." featuring a burley tattooed guy and a kitten snuggling up to each other. Very 'awwww' inducing.

Precious and funny, Hot Guys and Baby Animals, also benefits the SPCA which any animal lover will appreciate. I think this would be a great gift for a gal (or guy) with a great sense of humor who also doesn't mind a bit of man candy with her daily dose of cute.

Alright, let's get this out of the way first: I'm not super-thrilled by the "pron 4 wimmen!1!" marketing for this book. This book isn't porn, and while it's fine to look at it and/or be turned on by the models, I don't think it's valuable to perpetuate the meme that women can't or don't look at real porn, when many of them do. That meme-road leads only to sex-negativity and shaming. (And, yes, I'm the Most Humorless Feminist in Nofunnington, to quote Melissa McEwan. I'll show myself out, etc.)

Now that we've got that out of the way, I like this book just fine for what it is. It has hot guys and adorable baby animals and -- and this is a BIG part of why I like it -- cute flavor text for each of the pictures. So you get things like:

MARK & SADIE BELLE
Mark thinks people like him because he has a great smile.
Sadie Belle thinks people like Mark because he has Sadie Belle.

See? It's cute! (Well, I think so.) And there's a lot of really sweet, upbeat friendliness to this book -- I almost feel like this is the sort of thing I would really value the next time I go through a bout of depression. In some ways it seems sort of tailor-made for therapy: lots of friendly nice people smiling at sweet fuzzy animals with humorous-yet-inviting flavor text that isn't an overwhelming wall of text. I like it, is what I am saying.

I also like that there's a diversity of skin colors among the 38 models, as well as a lot of welcome facial diversity. I'm less thrilled by the lack of body diversity, since there are no visibly disabled or fat models, but that's industry standard for these things, I suppose. Still, they could have added one stocky guy and one guy in a wheelchair and had 40; how hard would that have been?

In 2011 a couple of smart writers and a talented photographer assembled a diverse bunch of toothsome male models and some equally adorable little animals and teamed them up with clever fashion-mag-style taglines: "Antonio likes tattoos. Snowflake [rabbit in Antonio's arms] likes to keep his canvas blank." "Patricio [devastating Italian model] is really hot. Minca [Husky pup] is really hot too -- damn fur!" The result is a little eighty-page, high-gloss hardbound charmer called HOT GUYS AND BABY ANIMALS. The models, the animals, and the color photography are all first-rate. Who could ask more than this eminently Safe For Work confection, which is not abstruse or deep but has a surprising amount of engaging silliness? A new follow-up book, HOT GUYS AND CUTE CHICKS, was released in July of 2013, as was a HOT GUYS AND BABY ANIMALS wall calendar for 2014.

I sent this to my daughter at college. Term was ending and the stress was considerable. She laughed and said it was just what she needed.
