I was only familiar with Gwen McRae from her hit "Rocking Chair". However, I knew the music of TK records so I thought that I would give this CD a try. I love what she has done with these songs. While she did not take away from the essence of the original songs, she was able to captivate me with her own flavor of what the music scene at TK records must have been like. She has a very distinctive, raspy voice that has stood the test of time. It is a unique sound that is not heard much these days. This CD is a refreshing return of the soul sounds of the 70's and as well as the artists that made the music so memorable.

Gwen is like the Dinah Washington of the 70s. Sassy and soulful. A great album!
