I enjoyed this book although it moved a little slowly for me. I prefer a darker tone with more danger like C S Harris, but I admit it's an unfair comparision, because this was never meant to be a moody or suspenseful thriller. It's elegant and charming. I enjoyed the writer's fine turn of phrase and accurate depiction of the era. The characters were strongly drawn too.
