Easy to put together.

No matter how I turned it and tried the holes in the bar didn't line up with holes in the frame.

The materials used to construct this bar are high quality. The mat in the photo hides the major defect of the item: it does not come with stabilizing struts at all. The bar (at the top) is the only item holding the two bases together. If you purchase the extension kit for an additional $100 plus $40 for shipping then you will receive the stabilizing struts along with the leg extenders.

Even with this one complaint, I would advise someone looking for a bar to purchase this piece of equipment. The base is solid, higher-gauge steel and is designed to be sturdy (see the braces on the side of the posts). The bar itself can easily support all members of the family without showing the slightest bit of compromise.

Adjusting it is simple enough, although a bit tedious. We assumed that this used a snap-lock system, but it is a screw-in and unscrew method. Definitely easy to use, just a bit of information for a potential buyer.

Overall, it's safe, it's well constructed, and it's fairly sturdy without the extension kit (50 lb gymnast using it).

I am head coach for a program and a parent of a level 7 gymnast. We purchased this bar several years ago WITH the expansion and it is the sturdiest one I have found on the market. Most bars you find online are "preschool" bars. The dimensions are the same, but the biggest difference in the heavier steel construction and the stabilizers you see pictured, paired with the expanders. Any gymnast doing swinging skills (hip circles/mill/casts) will need the expanders to make it safe. I only recommend the bar alone if it is for preschoolers. I recommend this particular brand to any of my gymnasts looking for a bar to use at home because of the stability compared to other products I have seen on the market.

The item arrived fast, but very badly packed( damages on corners, scratches on metal parts). Well, i decided it is not a big deal and assembled it( there is no tools coming with this bar, it created a substantial delay) Well, fine~ i thought. I bought it for my 9 y.o. ( 55lb), yet, she could not use it since it shakes badly.
Well, we needed a bar, a competition is coming, I bought sand bags to stabilize it, otherwise my girl was afraid to use this bar(she is 4 level, btw). She complained that something wrong with a wood part, when i examined it, i noticed many little cracks( i have pictures of poor packaging, scratches and cracks). I immediately send email to a seller asking how can i return it? If they have drop it at their designated location, i was not going to pay additional 70$ for shipping! I explained why i want to return or exchange. No answer, no reaction, no help.
Do you really deserve to go through all these trouble when you pay such money? I don't think so.

My kids love this bar, but they are too scared to some of their level 4 skills because it wobbles a little when they do the more difficult skills. We do not have the extension kit and am sure that would fix the problem, but that is another 100 plus dollars. Just a note- the bar is wooden. I guess that is normal in some gyms but my girls' gym does not have wooden bars and they do complain the wood hurts their hands (but they won't get off the bar so it must not hurt that bad).

Our 10 year old daughter is a gymnastics team member. After much debate, we decided to get this bar to assist her in working on parts of her bar routine. Great product, fast shipping, and would purchase this item again. It was well packed and in good shape upon arrival. As another reviewer mentions, it comes in two packages. She is thrilled with it, uses it daily; we also got chalk, a chalk bag, and a decent pad.
The only downside was the assembly. It took much longer than it should have - and a trip to a hardware store - because the eight screws they send (to attach the metal posts to the actual bar) do not fit. They are too large (diameter) for the holes predrilled in the metal (top corners). Once I purchased a slimmer (#6) screw, I had them installed in 5 minutes. How frustrating - especially when you have a very excited kid waiting to use their new equipment!

I was very skeptical ordering this Gymnastics Bar through the Internet - without actually getting to see it. There are so many kinds and we wanted it for Christmas. The product is exactly what I wanted and more. Professional quality like the ones used in gymnastics everywhere. I ordered it two weeks before Christmas and it was delivered within a week. It came in two deliveries so when I only received the top half I panicked thinking it said "Junior Training Bar" and for the price I only really ordered the top bar part. Amazon answered my question immediately putting me at ease that there would be two deliveries. I received the bottom two days later. I appreciate the care that I received as a customer. Thanks Amazon. My granddaughters LOVE their Gymnastics Bar.

Now that it's all assembled and cleaned off, it's great. But BEWARE the packaging! The bar is wood-coated fiberglass, but either end of the bar is NOT coated, so the fiberglass core is exposed. The ends are not covered in the box, except for the plastic sleeve that loosely covers the entire bar. Why is this a problem? Hmmm...fiberglass powder/splinters everywhere. If you've never experienced fiberglass, you don't know just how horrible (and painful) it is. Just from removing the bar from the box and then the sleeve, my hands were covered, and my son got a rather large piece stuck in his finger. Yes, the directions warn you about the fiberglass splinter potential; however, the directions are in the box, UNDER the bar and covered in dust, and you can't even see them until the bar is removed. To make things worse, you have to really hammer the ends of the bar into the metal stands, so tons of dust flies up in your face (cough).

Here's what you should do if you buy this product: 1) when the box comes, open it and then use your vacuum attachment to suck up all the loose fiberglass dust/splinters before removing anything from the box; 2) WEAR GLOVES and long sleeves/pants and shoes when you remove it and put it together; 3) when you're done assembling, wipe the entire apparatus down with a wet cloth, let it dry, and then, using duct tape, go along the entire surface of the bar removing any remaining fiberglass shards (you can't see them, so be thorough), do the same thing on the knobs you use to adjust the height (I didn't and then got more splinters the first time I raised the bar). Then vacuum the entire area of floor where you did this...don't let the dog roll around in it.
