An excellent collection of goth and industrial music, October 30, 2003
This review is from: Gypsy 83 (Audio CD)
I was perusing one of my favorite websites (warning shameless plug: Metropolis.com) when I came across the soundtrack to "Gypsy 83", a story based on two goth kids in the midwest who takes off to New York City. As soon as I saw the track list, I knew right away that I had to get the cd. Here is the song list: 1. Claire Voyant - Pieces 2. Diva Destruction - Talk to Me 3. The Cure - Doing the Unstuck 4. Karen Black - Walking in the Jungle 5. Magenta - Eccentricity 6. Mechanical Cabaret - Nothing Special 7. Claire Voyant - Twenty-Four years 8. Karen Black - I Want a Lip 9. Bauhaus - Severance 10. Velvet Acid Christ - Dilaudid (Postponed) 11. Apoptygma Berzerk - Suffer in Silence 12. Claire Voyant - Iolite (Francis A. Preve Remix) 13. Sara Rue - Voice So Sweet Anyone who puts Apop and Diva Destruction on a soundtrack scores major points with me since I love Apoptygma Berzerk and Diva Destruction. The fact that this soundtrack is released through Metropolis Records (my favorite record label, another shameless plug) definitely scores more points with me. After listening to "Gypsy 83", I must make Claire Voyant a priority for me. I just love the Claire Voyant tracks. The lead singer has a very lovely voice. One of the stars of the film Sara Rue (Less Than Perfect/Popular) even contributes to the soundtrack with the haunting ballad "Voice So Sweet". I was quite surprised to hear her sing so well as she did on this song. Although I have Apop's "Suffer in Silence", the fact that someone put an Apop song on a soundtrack blows me away. Thankfully I already love "Suffer in Silence". "Talk to Me" is a previously unreleased song from Diva Destruction (or a new one written for the movie, I don't know). I loved it of course being the Diva Destruction fan that I am. All the songs on the album are good. I can hardly wait to see the movie whenever it comes out.

A must have soundtrack!, January 18, 2004
This review is from: Gypsy 83 (Audio CD)
If the movie is half as good as this wonderful soundtrack, Small Planet Pictures will have a timeless classic on their hands. With three enchanting songs by Claire Voyant, two deep and sexy songs from Karen Black, a brilliant remake of Stevie Nicks' "Talk to Me" by Diva Destruction, the Cure's "Doing the Unstuck" and Bauhaus' "Severance" as well as Velvet Acid Christ, Apoptygma Berzerk, Magenta, Mechanical Cabaret and Sara Rue putting in some of their finest work, this is a "must have" for any serious compilation or motion picture soundtrack lover. Claire Voyant, by the way, OWNS this soundtrack. Wow! Victoria Lloyd--what a voice! I cannot wait to hear more from her and her crew: Chris Ross and Ben Fargen. Definitely a band to watch and listen out for!

kick out the blues tear out the pages and all the bad news, March 2, 2005
This review is from: Gypsy 83 (Audio CD)
go to www.industrial-music.com and buy it there for 13.99$ plus shipping much cheaper. This is an excellent cd the magenta song is my favorite. its featured at the end of the movie. I loved this movie and have seen it over 30 times now and these songs are what help give the movie such nostalgia. the director stated that originally he wanted to use stevie nicks songs but couldnt get her management to give the rights to them which is fortunate for us as these songs fit much better. these songs will bring a smile as they take you back to certain scenes in the movie like severance from bauhaus while vlive and gypsy walk throught the cemetary and say high to carl. clair voyant opens the movie and adds a beautiful atmosphere. I really love diva destruction's cover to talk tp me that was able to be used because stevie didnt right it. I usually hate sound tracks but i definately love this one
