This review is from: Gyration Ultra Cordless Optical Mouse - Mouse - optical / gyroscopic - wireless - RF - USB wireless receiver (Electronics)
This wireless mouse works great! There is no software to install, it works right out of the box (after you charge the mouse for 9 hours). The mouse comes with a recharging cradle and rechargeable batteries. Nearly all the other cordless mice I've seen require disposable batteries. I suppose if you are trying to be truly cordless, batteries are better since the cradle is plugged into your electricity and has a cord. However, for me the nuisance of replacing batteries every few months and periodically having a nonfunctional mouse outweighed the negative of needing a cord. Once removed from its cradle, the mouse is cordless and works extremely well. It tracks your hand movements in the air with seemingly 100% accuracy. Since it works in radio frequency and not infrared, it does not need to be line-of-sight with the small receiver unit plugged into the USB port of your computer. You can hide the receiver behind your tower, monitor, or other object so it is out of sight. I bought this unit for my laptop computer which I use frequently to give PowerPoint presentations at work. I wanted to be able to stand away from the computer during the presentation. It's perfect for that purpose and I could not be happier with my purchase.

The perfect lean-back-and-relax mouse,
This review is from: Gyration Ultra Cordless Optical Mouse - Mouse - optical / gyroscopic - wireless - RF - USB wireless receiver (Electronics)
A mouse without a mousepad? This cool Gyration mouse can be used in the air! Just move it around in the air and click on whatever you want. Perfect for carpal tunnel users!Charge the mouse up, and then simply use it. There's no 'learning' mode necessary. You pick up the mouse and wave it around. Gyroscopes within the mouse track where you are pointing and move the mouse on the screen accordingly. Click to click, hold down a button to point somewhere else. It's very straightforward and also very relaxing. Instead of leaning forward and putting pressure on your wrist to do any mouse movements, you just lean back in your chair and rest your arm whereever you want. If you're doing something keyboard intensive, the mouse does work fine on the table too - so you don't lose normal mouse functionality. But if you are doing something that just requires a mouse - surfing the web, paging through an ebook or making a presentation - it's easy to lean back, wander around, put your feet up. The mouse works wonderfully from any location. It works on radio waves so you don't have to be "pointing at" the receiver. Highly recommended for those who do a lot of mouse-only surfing or computer work, and also great for presentations.

The Gyration cordless mouse is a great alternative to the traditional mouse. I bought it because of problems with repetitive stress injury, and it definitely provides a nice break from the usual point and click motion of a deskbound mouse. At first, it takes a little getting used to, because you have to hold one button down to move the cursor around on the screen, and then another button to click on anything. However, it takes very little time to get the hang of it. Now I can use the mouse standing up away from the computer or sitting back in the chair.Another plus is the rechargeable battery. The battery lasts quite a long time between charges, but I usually keep the mouse in the charging cradle when I'm not using it. I haven't had any problems with radio interference from other devices, including a wireless network and cordless phone. Many people seem to buy the Gyration for presentation purposes. This is a great feature, but I'm very happy using it for everyday mousing. And if I get tired of waving it in the air, I can use it as a regular optical mouse without changing any settings. Cool!
