There is something unrelentingly satisfying about stepping into Obtest's world: One inspired by the exploits of Lithuania's Pagan heroes of old. Originally Obtest's sound was focused around the atmosphere created by good old fashioned Kvlt Black Metal, but with some uncharacteristically catchy hooks and even a few guitar solos. Over the years Obtest has forged a unique sound that still manages to pay homage to their Blackened roots but has expanded on the hooks and solos that make their brand of music so unique. In essence "Gyvybes Medis" has seen a further evolution in style for Sadlave and company. This album has seen the infusion of some "old skool" Metal riffage and an even more upbeat tone lends this, their fourth full length, a sound more then worthy of international attention. Which Obtest now has, thanks to a distribution contract with French label Osmose. Wider exposure not withstanding, Obtest functions as a well oiled engine of Pagan War Metal, with each part played to perfection. Truly a well oiled machine. I can't recommend this album enough!
