This atomic clock is great. Anytime the power goes out or it is moved for any reason this clock resets its self to the right time, not only the right time but to the atomic clock in Denver. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good alarm functionality, Atomic clock not so much
I have used the clock for just over a month. Its best feature is the separate weekend/weekday alarm settings. One can set either alarm to be active on weekdays only, weekends only, or every day. I was a little disappointed that the graduwake functionality applies only to the buzzer alarm, not to the radio. All other features are secondary to me.

This atomic clock is great. Anytime the power goes out or it is moved for any reason this clock resets its self to the right time, not only the right time but to the atomic clock in Denver. It also adjust to daylight savings time and leap year. If you use a back up 9 volt battery it even keeps your dual alarms set incase of a power outage. I really like the style and the sound quality is very good. This is the lowest price I have seen for an atomic clock with all the features the Scott SCR110 has. Know I have no excuse for being late.

Atomic clock: I live near Madison, Wisconsin. Out of the box the clock refused to synchronize with the atomic clock in Colorado. After waiting a couple of days, I finally set the time and date myself. A small light indicates whether the clock has been able to synchronize with the atomic clock within the last 24 hours. The night after I set the time, it finally synchronized. It seems to makes its connection every third or fourth day. I was hoping that it would reset the time after power outages and the like, but I've given up hope. I don't see how automatically changing the time 3 days after daylight savings time starts will help much either. Also, since the atomic synchonization is a highly touted feature, I don't understand the 1 foot antenna cable; a longer cable would permit better reception adjustment. A final irony: All pictures on its box clearly show a clock that has not synchronized within the last 24 hours!

Display: The green display is incredibly bright - brighter than most night-lights, even in the dim setting. This is partly because it not only displays the time, but the date. I placed 2 layers of a window tinting film over the display and it is much more tolerable. One can still read it quite handily in a brightly lit room, although perhaps not in direct sunlight any more.

Tuner: I have no complaints about the dial tuner, but I live close to all stations of interest.

Sound: This is nothing more than a clock radio.

In summary, if the you are lucky enough to live within synchronization distance of Colorado, this clock is pretty cool for its accuracy. For me, the alarm functionality was paramount. I would not pay its list price ..., but half that makes it worth while.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just To Bright, April 29, 2001

Initially I was quite happy as within probably 4 minutes of plugging it in it correctly set the time and date. Also if you set the wrong time it will correct that within just a matter of minutes. So for an accurate clock this is fine.

The main reason that I returned this clock to Amazon was simply that the clock is to bright. The LCD display has a bright and dim setting. However the dim setting is much to bright. My wife and I were amazed at how it lit the whole room up. We like to sleep in a fairly dark room and found ourselves covering up the display just to get the room dark.

Also the radio has a good sound but I thought the analog tuning wheel was a little to retro and sort of cheap. If you want to change the station you feel like you just stepped back into 1980.

Currently I am searching for an atomic clock with a very dim setting for night and possibly digital tuning for the radio or at least some preset buttons to change stations.

I was very excited to find this item and when I finally got it I have to admit a little disappointment. The clock itself is well made and looks good. However, the automatic time setting is flakey. The first night it set itself 10 minutes slow. After talking to customer service they said to give it a couple days to get the signal again. Last night it didn't receive a signal at all so I had to manually set the clock 10 minutes faster. I live in San Francisco in an apartment with no steel walls so I have no idea why it isn't getting a signal properly.

Other minor peeve is that the LCD is exceptionally bright, even on dim setting.

I like very much the clock display and the good tone from the radio. You should install a 9 volt battery so in event of power outage it holds the atomic clock setting, I hadn't put in a battery and upon power outage it took about 2 hours to auto set the time, after I put in battery and after another power failure it reset instantly. So far I am perfectly happy with this item.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice features, good WWVB signal reception, June 15, 2001

This clock radio has nice features - dual alarm, weekend/weekday settings, gradual wake-up alarm. I have other clocks that don't synchronize at a certain part of the house, but this one does. I read somewhere it checks WWV in addition to WWVB. What I don't like is the short antenna cable and that the time drifts by as much as 4-5 seconds as the day progresses before finally synchronizing at night.

Great item for time buffs. Only two improvements I would like. The display is too bright for bedside use, even in the 'dim' position, and a 'seconds' display would be useful.

The LED's are too bright even on the lowest setting. The case looks like it's made from cheap plastic. For the amount of money I'd expect to have a digital tuner and volume control instead of the old style rollers. The clock setting functionality worked great in my area.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great, February 28, 2002

I live in the Chicagoland area and about 5 min. after I plugged in the clock it synced with the atomic clock. I read some of the other reviews, the lite is not too bright in the low position, however the sound is a little tinny but not bad. Over all it is a great buy and works well for the price. I also purchased an atomic watch and I have had no problems receiving the atomic signal in the Chicagoland Area.

I agree with other reviewer's comments. I like this clock, it's ease of operation, especially the feature automatically setting the time. Also, set the alarm once for the time and day and forget it, no need to press the button for day. Days of the weeks, month and day are highlighted; radio has very good sound.
