More About the Author

Thanks for stopping by my Amazon page. The new book is out, Not in the Heart. It's what I consider my most riveting, suspenseful, and yet relational book yet. A mystery within a mystery within an addiction. I dedicate this to all who have someone in their life who is addicted.

I was born in West Virginia in 1961. I read a lot, but not very fast, and wrote poems, songs, and transcribed Marx Brothers movies and memorized dialogue.

In 1984 I met Jerry Jenkins at Moody Bible Institute. He offered to help me learn to write and I took him up on the offer. In 1998, Jerry and Dr. Tim LaHaye hired me to help write the Left Behind: The Kids series. After that I worked on several other series for children and then published my first adult novel in 2008. It took more than six years to write Dogwood and find a publisher. It received a 2009 Christy Award.

My next novel, June Bug, drew its themes from the classic Victor Hugo tale, Les Miserables. Then, Almost Heaven released and also won a couple of awards.

In addition to my fiction, I have also collaborated on a couple of best-selling football biographies with Ohio State's Jim Tressel and, most recently, Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints.

I graduated from the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. I have been married to Andrea since 1982. We have nine children. In October of 2008, our family evacuated our house in Colorado, leaving behind all our belongings because of a toxic mold exposure. Since then we have been living near Tucson, AZ in order to get medical help for the mold exposure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laughing out loud... still!, October 30, 1998

This review is from: The H.I.M. Book: A Woman's Manual for Understanding Her Highly Identifiable Male (Paperback)
This book is for two types of people: women who understand their man and women who think they understand their man! It's fabulously hilarious! Not only that, but it is also written by a man with no hesitations on identifying his own species and what they are all about. Fabry gives women (and men) insight on men's feelings, thoughts, what they mean, and why they do the things they do; and he does this with humorous intelligence. Men are not clueless jerks, they are merely different then women, and we need to understand this and simply love them for who they are. Get this book! You'll definitely laugh... and maybe even together!

5.0 out of 5 stars A WONDERFULLY TENDER, YET FUNNY, BOOK!, November 8, 2009
This review is from: The H.I.M. Book: A Woman's Manual for Understanding Her Highly Identifiable Male (Paperback)
I just finished reading "The H.I.M. Book" for the fifth time and laughed all over again at this delightful "instruction manual" for understanding men. Chris Fabry is known for his dry wit, and it is certainly in evidence here. When he writes that the husband tells his wife, "You just have to understand we're wired differently," and explains that the translation is: "I forgot your birthday again. Blame my genes," he is not REALLY saying that women just need to put up with men's shortcomings! It is all tongue-in-cheek. And for all the humor, there is enormous tenderness and humility here too: "I don't know why you always have to be so emotional," the husband says to his wife. But what he is really saying is: "I have no idea what to do when you cry." Fabry is showing us a typical male: hates to show feelings, talks a lot about typical "male" subjects with the guys, but has trouble relating to his wife. But, oh, he WANTS to! He really, really wants that deep bond between them and yearns to know how to get there. You'll read "The H.I.M. Book" and chuckle along the way. But much of the insight will keep you thinking for months to come. A wonderful book that will touch your heart while it tickles your funnybone!
