Do you have the Marsh eyes?,
This review is from: H.P. Lovecraft's The Shadow Over Innsmouth (Audio CD)
Dark Adventure Radio has yet another success with 'The Shadow over Innsmouth'.
Too long to be published in Weird Tales and unloved even by its creators, I believe out of all the HP Lovecraft stories, Innsmouth has the most depth to it despite what the publishing world and Lovecraft thought. I'll not give away the story, but will say that Innsmouth translates very well to the audio format. The voice-acting and sound effects are supurb and the alterations to the story are minor enough. A little adaptation doesn't ruin the tale except for the most ardent purist. Zadoc Allen, whose monologue is lengthy and done in a strange dialect, is pulled off perfectly. I've listened to other versions, but this one has an edge of true panic to it. Very convincing! The extras thrown in are charming. A hand drawn map of Innsmouth on the back of a First National Grocery ad. A newspaper clipping explaining the Feds take on the situation, including a hillarious picture of dive-suit rum smugglers. A picture of some horrific and beautiful jewlery and my favorite, a matchbook from the Gillman House, with only one match left. Well done, reasonably priced given all you get with it, and thus far the best audio rendition of HP Lovecraft I've heard up to date, and I've listened to three versions and subjected myself to the movie Dagon and played the video game Call of Cthuhlu (set in Innsmouth). I even visited the real-life town Innsmouth was (maybe) based on. They even have a Legion hall which I assumed to be the Esoteric Order of Dagon. In short; I'm a fanatic, and if I like this piece, surely it will appeal to all the other Deep Ones I know to be out there!

This is another successful, chilling radio drama by H.P. Lovecraft. I not only recommend you listen to it in your dark living room, lit by the fireplace, but I also recommend you take it on a long road trip and listen to it starting at sun down.

Good cast and characterizations. Very authentic period radio, right down to cigarette commercial. Took me back to the nights listening to "The Inner Sanctum" and "Escape". Not like reading Lovecraft, but great fun anyway!
