The first unit I ordered had a misaligned power bracket preventing the USB and power cables from being inserted to the AppleTV. Using Amazon's excellent exchange process, I received a replacement. However, the replacement has crooked side rails and the same misaligned power bracket. I will be returning the unit with no intent of exchange. Please note the AppleTV I am using is model A1218 but I suspect all AppleTV models have the same dimensions.

So I will start this review by stating I own three AppleTVs and stream movies throughout my house from a centralized NAS.

This product was exactly what I was looking for in my guest room where I have a HDTV wall mounted, but no room to put an AppleTV on a table.

This device solved that quite easily and allows me to mount it to the wall now right next to the HDTV. I really wish I could hide it somewhere and install an IR repeater. I may still end up doing that but for now, this thing gets the AppleTV out of the way and still maintains the beauty of the AppleTV because its clear.

Way to go H-Squared, putting out a product that does exactly what it should do!

I had to admit i was a little concerned about how the unit mounted to this and if it was going to be secure. The little flutes on the sides actually fit up into matching slots on the sides of the Apple TV and in addition, the power connector acts as something of a 'lock' to make sure it does not come off. One curious thing is the manufacturer says to be careful about mounting it horizontally as it may have heat problems? I do admit my apple TV gets very hot. I'm probably buying another one for my other Apple TV (the whacky thing I built for it looks like a makeshift 'side car' to keep it next to it's projector up on the ceiling, but this will be much better). What do I think about the LED frame light? Very nice; makes the unit look somewhat stand-outish and impressive with it's own back-glow, but I agree with previous reviewers; the light-pollution is a trade-off and if your viewing arena is sensitive to that, you may want to skip it's use. Not a biggy - it's window-dressing anyway.

It is not like you have a bunch of options here. Your choices for mounting a 1st Gen Apple TV are this and .... well, this. So, the question really becomes, if you need to mount your 1st Gen Apple TV, will this do the job? The answer to that question is yes. I would give this a higher rating except for the fact that the plastic mount is actually a bit fragile. Within about 30 seconds of trying to put the Apple TV in the mount, it snapped off on two of the three sides. They were both clean breaks (my fault by the way - I did push too hard on it) and, with a little super glue, and we were back in action. After learning from initial mistake, I was able to mount the Apple TV to the wall no problem. Another reviewer commented on a misalignment. At least for my set up, I had no trouble with that at all. It lined up perfectly. I do like the "nightlight" effect of the blue LED lights for the mount. To sum up, My Apple TV was sitting in a corner collecting dust until I bought this and a 24 in LED HDTV, now I have the world's best digital picture frame!

It's been great to get the Apple TV off the table and onto the back of the tv.

the only problem is that you can't hang the tv on the wall and use this mount.
