5.0 out of 5 stars Help Out The Seals (H.O.T.S.)
This is the infamous HOTS in all of its (topless) glory. Fun 80's college flick about snooty (and hot) sorority girls hounded by cute, big-chested outcast girls who form their own sorority as competition. Plenty of topless swims, towel fights, hot scenes with boys, and campus pranks. Lots of flesh and lots of humor. Ultimately, the girls settle their differences in a...

In former days, that is to say once upon a time, when we first got cable this movie would air late at night over and over again. It speaks to a time when the point was to come up with a plausible reason for women to expose their breasts. This film overcomes that particular obstacle by putting the women in college sororities who then take each other on. Consequently...

You get the idea.

I don't need to tell you this isn't exactly Chariots of Fire. For what it is, it's worth it for get the DVD. The transfer and sound are good, I don't recall any extras. This isn't the DVD you get for the extras. The "extras" are in the film itself.

2.0 out of 5 stars H.O.T.S. - A reminder from the early days of HBO..., September 8, 2000
This review is from: H.O.T.S. [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In former days, that is to say once upon a time, when we first got cable this movie would air late at night over and over again. It speaks to a time when the point was to come up with a plausible reason for women to expose their breasts. This film overcomes that particular obstacle by putting the women in college sororities who then take each other on. Consequently there is the deep and meaningful message that we should all be more accepting of each other, and especially of women with large breasts.

In other words, this is not a date movie. This is not really a movie for people who have a realistic chance of going out on a date. This is not a great film, but for this particular genre it is certainly fun and if you are sober you will get quite a few laughs and not all of them at the expense of Danny Bonaduce. It has a warm spot in my heart because this was the film that introduced me to the skin flick genere on late night HBO. Not that I can see me telling the grandkids about it someday.

Yes, I remember seeing this movie on "Up All Night" and watched simply to see what they would do with the film's climax, the strip-touch-football game. You have to wonder about the thinking behind the fact that they shot the final scenes twice, once with tops and once withouts. Who would have thought there was some genius thinking about making this film available to network television?

Now, this film is available in a widescreen edition. The mind boggles. Is this a great country or what?

4.0 out of 5 stars Help Out The Seals? Hang On To Sex!, September 28, 2004

This review is from: H.O.T.S. (DVD)
H.O.T.S. is one of those wonderfully innocent sexploitation films from the earliest HBO days (the kind of thing they'd never admit to showing nowadays). The story of a pack of blessedly overendowed College Sorority girls, this film features Playmate Susan Kiger and a bevy of beauties all running around topless in tight shorty shorts and looking---well, how would you expect them to look?

There isn't much of a story, and H.O.T.S. is sexually milquetoast compared to others of this genre (though the topless football game is still a classic), but nobody ever watched H.O.T.S. for its cinematic quality. H.O.T.S. is an homage to testosterone, and needs to be on every man's shelf who made it through the early eighties with his libido intact. And even if not.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy skin shots, July 25, 2003
This review is from: H.O.T.S. (DVD)
Saw this movie when HBO had it on - years ago. Remember it for having a weak story line, but it more than made up for it with female full nudity (all thru the movie)! Young flesh is always nice to view, especially their sports competition at the movies end.

3.0 out of 5 stars Silly 1970's fun, May 29, 2003

I saw this movie as a teenager at the old Paramount theater in San Juan. So it brings back some great memories of days when one had to struggle to see naughty R-rated movies. Seeing it again as an adult was interestimg, The humor is pretty dumb, but the girls are still sexy. And the movie has a "devil-may-care" attitude which is refreshing.
The strip football game is fun to watch.
The DVD is pretty plain. It just features a trailer. It would have been nice to have has a director's or cast commentary. Or to see how the HOTS girls are doing. Although, perhaps, its better to remember them as they were back in the 70's.

This is by far no great cinematic accomplishment. However, it's a good movie to watch on a Saturday afternoon when there's nothing better to do. It's a funny, sexy teen sorority college movie with playboy playmates from '79 and should be taken as it is. In the beginning, the movie doesn't make much sense, but as it goes on...it's still really bizarre. To put it another way, I thought it was worth the $7 I paid for it, so if you're interested in a H.O.T.S. time, check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS WAS A GREAT MOVIE, August 14, 2002

This review is from: H.O.T.S. (DVD)
I mean it had everything a guy could want in it. Topless football game. Wet t-shirt contest. Disco dancing babes. Plenty of hijinx. topless parachuter. A car chase. Is it a meaningful movie? NO. Is it a fun movie? YES. A fun movie to watch. some genuinely funny scenes and even funnier acting. Plus plenty of babes. If you take this movie on the level of an almost comic book type of story You will enjoy it. Unless youre a female. Or play for the other team.

I havent had the honor to get the DVD yet,but I have seen this movie many times. It takes use back to a time, whenwe knew what fun was and lived itin movie form. It's the kind of movie, that made me look forward to college life, while I was still in my teens.Susan Kiger and her entourage of Beauties, were very entertainingand awesomely attractive in one of the summer movies that caught my attention.I guess you could say, this movie is why we looked forward to college life so much and hadfun along the way.

3.0 out of 5 stars SHAKE................SHAKE IT!, August 27, 2008
By
This review is from: H.O.T.S. (DVD)
H.O.T.S. stars Danny(PARTRIDGE FAMILY)Bonaduce as a famous celebrity M.C.(hey who said Danny couldn't act)and the shining moment for me,out side the nude scenes of course :) is when Danny gets on stage to sing the song "SHAKE IT BABY" a song which has no other words but that? Also later in the film we see Danny in bed with a live seal(NO! NOT THE SINGER)there are lots of flopping nude women in this movie and the end football scene between the H.O.T.S & the P.I.E. leaves on a great climax. This is not a great movie but has that 70's innocence that seems to be gone now in movies today. This was one of the first movies I watched spending the night at my bros NO LONGER DEVILS house and it was great to see this when the parents had gone to bed ;) So buy H.O.T.S and SHAKE..
SHAKE IT

What can I say? It's great getting back most of the fun teenage romp movies of my youth and finding H.O.T.S. available was a real fun blast from my past.
Seeing the movie unfold now that I'm older and anxiously awaiting the end where you find out what H.O.T.S. really stands for (no I won't tell you here but looking back at the time I was like DUH!!!) was fun
Thumbs up Amazon for bringing back all the movies of old that we all love.
