The "pad saver" or "shove it" is a product that I would not use on my saxophones or clarinets. I believe that it keeps the moisture in the instrument rather than remove it, as a pull through swab would do. It could even leave debris from the case or lint in the instrument. On the clarinet, I've seen that it's use can leave an unswabbed area with a dirty surface in the bottom section near the tenon for the bell.

I recently bought this pad saver for his saxophone for a good swab. Great inexpensive product highly recommend. This product was much better than I thought it would be for the money.

Pad savers are the best thing that you could buy for any brass or woodwind instrument. It will keep your pads dry so that you will have a much less repair bill later on. Especially if your pads are made of fish skins. Just love mine, and I tell everyone about getting one for their instruments.

I have this pad saver for both my alto and tenor sax. No Swabbing. Just pop it in before you put your sax away. It wicks moisture away from the pads while the sax is it its case. And you can throw away the end plug that came with your sax because the pad saver doubles as an end plug too. I own vintage saxes where arresting interior corrosion is essential. The pad saver allows me to feel that I'm doing what I can to keep my saxes viable for years to come.

It is called "shove it", for a reason, because this is how you use it, but seriously, product is good quality and does the job. What is the job? Keeping your sax pads from rotting and whole instrument maintained fresh and sounding good. High amount of moisture is good for mushrooms, but not necessarily recommended for leather based sax pads. IF it did not work there is possibility that the actual problem is coming from the area - as one major mouthpiece manufacturer said - above the reed. If you are smiling now, then you know, if you are puzzled, stick with the guitar. Live is good, and so is this product.
