Product Description

HABA Cordoba Building blocks set are wooden blocks still made in HABA’s family owned factories in Bavaria Germany. HABA uses only PEFC certified beechwood timbers (to ensure more trees are being planted than harvested). HABA then uses a safe, water based, non-toxic stain color to penetrate and enhance the wood grain. The colors and various shapes and materials in these blocks will stimulate a child’s inventive creativity and may even inspire the adults! The base dimension of the blocks is 4cm approx. 2 inches and they can be combined with all the other HABA building blocks.

They're actually beautiful; the colors, shapes and designs are original, and the blocks are very well made.

We bought these for our 9 month old daughter. They are a little beyond her for building, of course, but she likes the colors, shapes, textures, and unique features like the bell and prism. The whole family thought they were the neatest blockes they had ever seen. I hope to add another set when she gets old enough to build with them. They are perfect for her two favorite games, "chew on things" and "take things out of the basket." They seem to be excellent quality and hold up well to her chewing. Even the transparent plastic that contains the pearls seems to be sturdy. While I don't believe that any of the pieces as a whole are small enough to choke on, some of them would not pass the "toilet paper roll" test so I would recommend using these with supervision for a smaller child.

Update - it has now been 2 years since my prior review and we still play with these blocks. My daughter likes to build with them now, and I like that they have some odd angles that kind of challenge her. She does not play with them daily but they do see regular use and still look great - no paint chipping or pieces coming off.

I purchased these blocks for my 2 year old for Christmas. All of my girls LOVE them (5yrs, 2, and 7 months)! I must admit as soon as I saw these I could not wait for the box to be opened. They are simply beautiful blocks, the best quality I have ever seen. There are lots of different shapes colors and details, each one is special. They can be arranged in a variety of ways. I saw these on a trip to Germany and I was thrilled to find them online. We also purchased the Torrino and Sakrada for more variety. I am even considering purchasing the Seville set! A basic set of Haba blocks may work great with these just to add height and base. We have built palaces, churches, homes, schools, playgrounds, you name it! Right now my daughter populates her creations with her Squinkies; but Haba's Habaland characters are on my wishlist! ;) We love Haba games and play food and now their blocks are a must. They make incredible, unique, heirloom quality gifts too! You cannot go wrong with Haba quality. Well worth the cost.

We bought these blocks to supplement the Sevilla set and they match perfectly and give some additional shape and color options. In other words, they match the style, but there are no repeats. They are painted colorfully and beautifully and although I think they look a little girly, it has never deterred a boy from playing with them! They appeal to a large age range, anywhere from less than a year to 5 years plus. We have had these blocks for a few years now and they still look brand new. We use them alongside other less expensive wooden blocks to make larger structures and use these as the tops of the castles and buildings. They are pricey, but I feel worth it if you can swing it because they are extremely durable and, unlike some other toys, will be played with for years and can pass from kid to kid without worrying about toxic paint or product recalls.

I bought these for my block-loving toddler daughter (and expected her preschool brother to be drawn to them).

The variety of shapes seems to work against this set. These lie scattered on the floor (waiting for unsuspecting feet) while the kids build daily with the Melissa & Doug 60-Piece Standard Unit Blocks.

This was an expensive mistake: the kids like every other set of blocks we own (and we have about 6) far better.

We have both these & the Sevilla set. We love both & intend to buy more sets to add to our collection. You don't get many blocks for your money but they are very interesting, if not a little out there, & great quality. They've been thrown, dropped & chewed on and are keeping pace with the kids.

While these blocks are at the higher end of the price scale they are worth every penny. I bought my 18 month old son two sets and they are extremely well made. The wood is a high quality. There are no rough edges as I've seen on some wooden blocks. The paint is durable and can withstand everyday abuse from toddlers. So far no chips. Each one is a little piece of art and different in it's own way. From metallic paint to bells, pearls and mirrors, each one is unique and offers a different element to playtime. These will stand the test of time and I intend to pass them on to my grandchildren. I am looking forward to buying more sets in the future.

My older niece loves the blocks, but they were intended for her little sister, who had a lot of fun pushing around the box they came in. Oh, well. *I* liked them and thought they were really cool. So did a couple other adults. They're actually beautiful; the colors, shapes and designs are original, and the blocks are very well made. I'm sure my nieces don't give a hoot about the quality, but the blocks definitely create possibilities for their little imaginations.
