5.0 out of 5 stars Just right! January 14, 2014
By Erin

As soon as I started this book, I couldn't put it down! It was full suspense, twists, and turns that I never expected right up until the end of it! The characters and details within this book made it so much more than other books I've read. It's nice to see that authors like T. J. Brearton haven't forgotten about making the reader feel as if they are actually in the book! I enjoyed it so much that I am already waiting for the sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooked on Habit January 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
There are a lot of twists and turns in this story and the suspense is pretty much non-stop. I really love this main character and the personal struggles he's going through because, honestly, I faced some of those struggles myself. He's a well drawn character who travels into some pretty dark territory. The story very much reminded me of Silence of the Lambs, one of my favorites.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read April 17, 2014
By JoeH
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this book. It was a little different as it was full of one person's thoughts on his way to solving this crime. Very interesting with lots of twists and danger. If you like police drama/mystery this book is for you. Final twist I never saw coming. I recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent detective mystery January 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This was a great read. Pacy and from the off you couldn't stop reading it. The main character is believably flawed, and the mystery unfolds with many surprises. I also enjoyed the details of life in upstate New York

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome thriller January 22, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Habit is a frightening thriller with some elements common to many murder mysteries, but this one surprised me with its darkness, action, and its attention to the characters’ feelings. The hero’s emotions are clear and realistic even as he pushes them aside in a struggle to focus on the investigation at hand. The story moves unexpectedly from the detective’s fact gathering and thoughtful analysis to frantic gunfights. The beautiful countryside of upstate New York hides sleaze that is only revealed by a brutal murder, and the reasons for that crime are much larger than it originally seems. T. J. Brearton has got the realism and tone just right. This book made me get up at night to make sure I’d locked the doors.

5.0 out of 5 stars A modern take on hard-boiled January 23, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I grew up reading hardboiled detective writers like Dashiel Hammett and Raymond Chandler, so it was a delight to read Habit and enter the world of flawed protagonist Brendan Healy. T.J. Brearton has an expert control of his material, from style, tone, characterisation and plot development. It had me gripped from the beginning. More please!

3.0 out of 5 stars A Dirty Government February 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed the book until the conclusion. The ending was just a little too weird for me. I liked the main character and the way he went about solving the crime, but the whole human trafficking angle and the politicians involvement left me cold.
