It's nice when toy companies take advantage of modern technology when they can to manufacture new toys.
The rifle is a great concept- essentially a Halo weapon replica and laser tag toy at the same time.
Only difference is that the sensor for the tag acts like a Halo shield which recharges after a while.
Rifle glows when turned on and recoils when fired.
The rifle looked really big on youtube and it looks even bigger in person.

My rifle had a non-functional reload button. Oh well. I think the button broke internally, I can hear something rattling around.

The quality of the plastic is what you'd expect for a toy- strong enough to keep the thing together but you definitely can't melee with it :)


Hope they come out with a full line of Halo weapons in the future.

I love Halo and when I saw this, I didn't even think about waiting.
The only problem was the trigger it broke right after a few pulls.
I was just playing around with my friends with it and it just didn't work. This was right after I had unpacked it and had it for a few hours.
I hate returning things, but I called Amazon and it was the easiest thing to do. They gave me no hassle!
I used to never buy online, but I tried Amazon out a few times. But after that, I always buy from Amazon with full confidence.
Oh, the rifle is really cool with the look of reflective coverings. If you played the game its as big as it is on human. Its like holding a 22inch screen in my hand.

I was very excited when I got these in the mail.
I couldn't put them down all day, even before I put batteries in the other part of it, and tried the laser tag part.

Although they look quite a bit different from the plasma rifles that are actually in halo, they are pretty rad looking. They are also HUGE! A lot bigger than I expected, but it was just a bit harder to hold up.
Makes sense if you think about how big master chief actually is compared to the gun.

If you are a big halo fan, or just like guns/laser tag, this is a must buy!

Look, this toy is gonna break. Mine did the fist day. There is clearly a screw or something loose on the inside. But, that doesn't mean this toy isn't still all that is awesome. The best part? The usage. This is vintage 80s laser tag with huge Halo weaponry. The pics do not do justice to the size of these things. The gun pictured here is almost the size of an adult arm which makes sense since that is how big they look in the Halo game. Children will most likely not be able to use this toy at all. It is heavy bordering on cumbersome but this only shows that this toy is meant for teenagers to adults. Anyone who has played the Halo games is going to think this is fun and anyone who also ever played laser tag is going to think this is doubly fun. This rifle shoots fast and there is a recoil. The rifle can overheat and flaps will jut out that you have to reset. (The flaps broke on mine so I taped them down which fixed the problem. In fact after I taped them down I realized I might have done this anyway as it speeds up how fast you can reset the gun when it overheats.) This rifle comes with an electronic target you wear to register hits. The last person to run out of "lives" via hits wins. The target works reasonably well but just like 80s laser tag it doesn't always register a hit at long distances or when it is in movement. I was able to register a hit on my brother by bouncing a shot of a mirror. If you looked this item up it means you wanted to buy it. These toys are not perfect but they are a lot of fun and I would highly recommend them. My only caveat is that you should shop around as they are often expensive and you might find a deal elsewhere. I waited and bought them on sale.

The Halo 3 Plasma Rifle was a big hit with my 7 year old son Nick. With the great price on Amazon, I was able to get two of them. When Nick has a friend over, they can play laser tag with them. The gun is huge and well detailed, and the pop-open overheat vents are cool.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He and I had never played laser tag before, so I wasn't sure I wanted to fork out money for a set. However, as soon as we opened it up, it was apparent that we would need another weapon. This toy rocks! It has awesome sound effects just like you're playing Halo, so stalking people around the house feels like you're the Master Chief. The down side is that I'm sure we'll need to be careful with it. It might not be the right toy for a child, but for two adults who know how to be careful with things like the fins (they look so delicate), this is an excellent toy. It made us feel just like kids. Priceless...

Awsome unique toy would buy another if i could afford one new, this was used and stopped working after 4 hrs of recieving it:(

Fantastic collectible for a Halo fan, and very regrettable that so few were made and the high price tag they have now because of it. Found a relatively cheap one recently and I don't regret the purchase. They don't seem like the most durable things in the world because right out of the box the exhaust blades wouldn't deploy reliably and something was rattling in the lower portion of the gun.

I was able to fix this easily by removing a small portion of the bottom and knocking some loose bits of dried glue, and returning a retaining spring to the rumble device/battery pack; exhaust blades fixed themselves after a little use.

Simply, this is a very cool looking and cool functioning toy. My son loves it. The fins get to the point where they can be knocked off somewhat easily during play. The first of these, I glued on with Gorilla Super Glue. This caused it to break above the mount joint, so I pulled the still attached broken piece out (lot of work) and glued it back to the fin with same Gorilla Glue. I then re-mounted the repaired fin in its mounting slot with Goop, which holds but remains flexible. I did this to all the fins, which have all become looser through play. Now when a fin gets roughly bumped it will pop out before breaking off, and none of the fins pop out as easily. A minor modification issue but not unsurmountable. Still, all of the other aspects of this toy over-ride the fin inconvenience. It's awesome overall, and you won't be dissapointed.

I bought this a while ago for a 12 year old. He loves it and used it for a Master Chief costume on Halloween. Everybody loved it. The normal price is high but on sale it's worth it. It does go through batteries like you would expect if you use it a lot.
