Fantastic light-duty mixer!,

After reading the positive ratings by [...] about this mixer, I got it for my wife. She (having used many hand mixers through the years) is beyond pleased, loves the easy-stow snap-on storage case for the various attachments, and has had none of the problems mentioned by the other reviewer. Its easy to hold, rests on the side of the bowl you are mixing in if you want to stop and do something else at the moment, without having to lay it down on the counter. Perhaps the other reviewer (who said it only went fast, so much so it splattered everything) either has a defective unit, or is mistakenly pushing the "speed-burst" button as she goes. Other reviewers of the similar "V" mixer have stated theirs burned out after using it on stiff toll-house cookie dough. Egad! If you are making toll house cookies, use a wooden spoon, not a hand-held mixer! (That way you are required to sample the mix as you go off the spoon.) Or, a powerful stand mixer. This product is for everything from pancakes to meringue, but no hand held should be used on stiff cookie mixes, or whole wheat bread. White bread mix, maybe. Overall, this thing is plenty powerful, super easy and handy to work with. Best hand held mixer we have found!

Very Disappointed,

I am currently looking for a new mixer. Mine still works but I get increasingly frustrated with it. This mixer, technically, has six speeds but truly only two -- fast and faster. Be sure and wear protective covering and drape all surfaces in your kitchen ... it splatters everywhere. There is no slower adjustment that can be made and I've tried numerous deeper mixing bowls with no success. I gave it one star because of the price, but I'd rather mix by hand.

DIFFERENT MODEL - NOT 62675R,

I ordered the 62675R as listed, but I received the 62675V. It looks similar but only has 3 attachments instead of 5. I already own the 62675R and wanted to buy one for a friend. The beaters are not interchangeable between the 2 models. I called Housewares, and the customer service person I spoke with was very nice and seemed willing to help me. I did have to explain to her the difference between the 2 models, and I do see that they have not yet changed the prodict listing after several weeks. They do not carry the 62695R model. They just advertise it. Oy. I read another post for this company about a similar situation with a hair dryer ... posting one style and shipping another. Seems like bait and switch. I ultimately decided to keep the mixer and order an extra set of beaters from Hamilton Beach. It seemed easier than having to pay for return shipping to the company for THEIR mistake. I see they state that very clearly in their company description ... that all shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. I just think an exception should be made when it is blatantly their error. I will not buy from this company again.

I hate this mixer and I am buying another one. It splatters, it is so loud my ears hurt after using it, and it is heavy.

I love the idea of having everything contained in this one unit, but--as another reviewer stated--the 6 speeds are NOT accurate. Even the lowest setting is like using medium-high speed. Unfortunately, this seems to be a problem with many hand-held mixers. America's Test Kitchen recommends the Cuisinart Power Advantage 7-Speed for far more accurate low speed. This will be my next mixer: Cuisinart HM-70 Power Advantage 7-Speed Hand Mixer, Stainless and White

I've had two of these mixers for several years now. One is in my home and one in my vacation home. Both mixers have functioned well and reliably during this time. They do have a low speed but it is definitely not like the low on a stand mixer. As to the noise level noted by another reviewer, I think ALL mixers are hard on the ears and this one is no better or worse than my big Kitchenaid stand mixer. Note: This mixer works as well as my mother's Kitchenaid hand mixer that cost $50 more!
I also like the case, it keeps everything together and compact which is great in limited storage space. I give the product five-stars not because it is the crowning glory of hand mixers, but because it is a great value for $19 and it has passed the test of time.

This mixer is VERY loud, heavy, and does not have a long life span. The clear plastic storage base is supposed to snap onto the mixer but both of mine kept falling off.
I frequently make Buttercream frosting and the mixer does mix the 10X sugar and butter/shortening well, however at higer speeds it's hard to control. There's no speed low enough to keep a big dust cloud of powdered sugar from being thrown up into the air. Also, the speed numbers on the handle rubbed off the first week I used it. And there's no beater eject button either. It is VERY loud!! When my first one died I thought it was b/c of all the sugar dust being sucked into the motor. So I bought a second one, and it died too after only 2 months-the beaters stoppped rotating and were out of alignment so they kept hitting each other. I threw the second one out and am on the market for something more reliable. Would not recommend this product to anyone who does a lot of baking! Or anyone on the verge of hearing loss! |
