Handy little tool that is useful in a pinch, with a few glitches, February 22, 2006
This review is from: HANDMARK Oxford American Desk Dictionary and Thesaurus (Electronics)
I am generally pleased that I purchased this for my Palm. My main problem with it is that the vocabulary is somewhat limited (many of the more unusual words will not be in this dictionary); plus it doesn't "jump to" a close word if you should misspell a word or use a derivative of a word. For example, if you put in the word mediocrity, it won't pull up anything or jump to the m's. You have to figure out which word might be there, for example mediocre, and plug that in instead. It doesn't help you out by jumping straight to mediocre if you put in mediocrity. Another example: mysticism is not in the dictionary; mystical is. Plugging in mysticism you come up with nothing; the system doesn't jump you to the word mystical. If that doesn't bother you, and you don't mind scrolling through the "m's" for example to find your word, then this is a pretty handy tool.
